Our speakers were
Trixy Weiss, President and CEO of Genesis Auctions; Leslie King, CEO of King Nutronics Corporation; and Alison Bauerlein, Co-Founder, Executive Vice President and CFO of Inogen Inc.

Moderating the discussion was Valarie Wright, President of Val Wright Consulting and author of the forthcoming book, "Thoughtfully Ruthless -- The Key to Exponential Growth."

Women in Corporate Growth
is a small, invitation-only group of professional women along the 101 corridor who are focused on companies in the middle- to upper-middle market.
WCG meets quarterly to discuss topics related to corporate finance and transactions, share best practices, build relationships, and recognize local female business executives.

California's Food and Agriculture Sector:
The Bumpy Trip from Field to Fork


It takes courage to be in the agriculture business in California. Farmers have to cope with some of the highest land prices in the nation, tough state and federal environmental regulations, labor issues ranging from immigration to healthcare costs, drought, a shortage of bees to pollinate crops and much more.


Yet the food and ag business in our area continues to flourish. Farms in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties generate revenues of over $4 billion, creating thousands of jobs, and supplying supermarkets and restaurants nationwide and abroad with fruits, vegetables, nuts, flowers, grapes and other crops. Food packagers, distributors and retailers generate billions more in revenue, and create tens of thousands of additional jobs.


A panel of industry experts will take a field-to-fork look at this vital industry sector at the March 4th breakfast meeting of ACG 101 at the Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo.

Michael R. Lippold, CEO of FreshRealm


Our moderator will be Dan Nutley, a Partner with Moss Adams LLP.  


Joe Rumley joined Limoneira as CFO in 2010, bringing over 25 years of public and private accounting management experience to his role. Previously he was an Audit Partner at McGladrey & Pullen LLP, and earlier was with Grant Thornton and Deloitte & Touche. Earlier in his career he held financial posts at three private companies. A Certified Public Accountant, he received a BS in Accounting from California State Northridge and an MBA with an emphasis in Finance from Pepperdine University.

Ric Alvarez
joined Vernon-based Overhill Farms, a custom manufacturer of high quality branded and private label frozen foods, in 2013, having held senior management positions with a number of public and private packaged food products companies, both domestic and international. He previously held leadership positions at Spartan Foods of America, Busch’s Fresh Food Market, Frozen Specialties Inc., Juanitas Foods, Country Pure Foods Inc., Ruiz Foods and Burns Philip. After graduating from the University of South Florida with a BS in Microbiology, Ric went on to earn an MS and PhD in Food Science at USF.


Michael Lippold is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of FreshRealm, a fresh food delivery platform, connecting food makers, packers, carriers, merchants and shoppers through cloud-based technology and the revolutionary Vessel. Before founding FreshRealm, Michael was Director of Strategic Development at Calavo Growers, Inc. where he led the acquisition of one of America's premiere fresh food companies. Michael spent over 10 years on Wall Street as a Portfolio Manager & Analyst for Telluride Asset Management, Craig-Hallum Capital Group, Prudential Financial, and Rocket Capital Management. He earned his BA in Financial Economics from Gustavus Adolphus College and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Our moderator, Dan Nutley, leads the Food Processing & Agriculture Group for the California Central Valley office of Moss Adams. He has provided business consulting and auditing services for agribusiness and cooperatives since 1976. His clients have included food processors, agricultural cooperatives, produce and fresh fruit marketing and processing companies, and wine production and distribution companies. He is a member of the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives and the Produce Marketing Association. Dan has a BA from University of the Pacific.
