As we take our normal Summer break from events, ACG Atlanta hosted the first annual Fast 40 dinner event on June 17th at the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead. This event recognized the Georgia Trend magazine "Fast 40" growing large and medium size businesses in the middle market in Georgia. The Fast 40 Committee was Co-Chaired by Robert Owen (Tucker Midas) and Betty Reed (Abraxas). Cherry, Bekaert & Holland was the Diamond Sponsor of the event. We had almost 500 registrants for the event and it was a tremendous success.
As has been the case in previous years, we continue to invigorate our ACG Atlanta Board with new members. Congratulations are in order for our five new Board members: Denise Boyd (Grant Thornton), Katie Goodman (Grisanti, Galef & Goldress), Josh Kuder (LINX Partners), Carol Langendorfer (Regions Business Credit), Ian Mackay (Raymond James) and Kip Plowman (Cherry, Bekaert & Holland). However, we have some big shoes to fill this year as two of our most active, thoughtful and experienced Board Members, Ed Fisher (SouthPointe Ventures) and Nancy Halwig (UPS Capital), roll-off our Board, as will Katherine Morris (Morris Consulting) who is a Past President of our Chapter and has put significant time and effort into serving our chapter over the past five years. The good news is that they each continue to stay very active in our chapter in various capacities and remain committed to giving our chapter the many benefits of their tremendous energy and enthusiasm for ACG.
As I sign off for the Summer, my biggest reminder is to mark September 30th on your calendar for our annual wine tasting event at the King Plow Arts Center, which is free for our members and is sure to kick-off another great year for our chapter.
Very truly yours,
Dominic C. Mazzone
