Michael A. Blum, Co-Founder & Chief Financial Officer of Firefly Space Systems is an entrepreneur at heart and has started ventures in Germany, the United States, Canada and across Asia.
In 2002, he started PayPal Germany. Together with his team, he designed and implemented what is today a highly profitable domestic online payment solution to rival the free bank transfers long offered by German banks. He later ran Payments in South East Asia and the Pacific for eBay/PayPal.
In 2005, he was invited to join the founding team of Falconhenge Partners, a New York City based long/short
equities hedge fund. The team folded this fund into Magnetar Capital in 2006 where Michael helped establish the London and Tokyo offices.
Next he moved to Macao where he started a small private equity fund with his brother, investing in the fast
growing gaming and hospitality economy in Macao.
In 2008, he co-founded Hedgeye where they are democratizing access to investment information. They are
creating a sustainable business model for a more ethical Wall Street of the 21st Century - what they call Wall Street 2.0.
More recently, Michael formed Asia Leisure Capital with 3 of his partners. ALC is based in Macao and is in
the business of hotel and casino management and funding.
And at the beginning of 2014, he co-founded Firefly Space Systems. They are building a family of small satellite
launchers and Michael’s role is that of CFO.
Michael is an astronaut-in-waiting at XCOR Space Expeditions and a former Astronaut-in-waiting at Virgin Galactic.

Cancellation Policy – Cancellations received in writing to acgcentraltexas@acg.org by 5pm, Aug. 11th will receive a full refund. There are no refunds for cancellations received after 5pm on Aug. 11th. If you are an ACG Member unable to attend, you can transfer your registration to another person for this same event. If the person attending in your place is not an ACG Member, they will need to pay an additional fee to bring them up to the non-member rate to attend.
