John Dickson is a security professional, entrepreneur and Principal at Denim Group, Ltd, a leading secure software development firm. He has nearly 20 years in the information security field including hands-on experience with intrusion detection systems, network security and software security in the commercial and government sectors. In his current position as a Principal of Denim Group, he advises business leaders and chief security officers (CSO’s) of Fortune 500 companies and federal organizations who launch and expand software security initiatives. John is a sought after speaker on security topics at industry venues such as the RSA Security Conference, the SANS Institute, the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP other international security conferences. John also writes frequently about important security issues and is frequently quoted in the press. He has been published in several industry journals and contributes to the Denim Group blog where he regularly writes about software security, cyber security policy as well as other issues affecting the security industry. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the International Systems Security Association and has been a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since 1998. 
 
John is a former United States Air Force officer who served in the Air Force Information Warfare Center (AFIWC) and was a member of the Air Force Computer Emergency Response Team (AFCERT). Since his transition to the commercial arena, he has played significant client facing roles at Trident Data Systems, KPMG and SecureLogix Corporation. John is currently the Immediate past chairman of the Texas Lyceum, a statewide leadership group whose alumni include President George W. Bush, Governor Rick Perry and numerous other statewide elected officials in Texas. He is also a member of the US Air Force Space Command Commander’s Group where he serves as an advisor and advocate for Air Force Space Command and Air Force issues. I that role, he is also is an Honorary Commander for the 67th Cyberspace Wing which organizes, trains, and equips United States Air Force units to conduct network defense, attack, and exploitation. John also sits on the Industry Advisory Committee for Institute of Cyber Security Studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Other volunteer roles include Chairman of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Cyber Security Committee, where regional industry contributors coordinate economic development, workforce, and advocacy issues. John previously served as Chairman of the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the San Antonio Technology Accelerator Initiative and as President of the Alamo Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association.
 
John holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University, a Master of Science degree from Trinity University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas in Austin. He resides in San Antonio, Texas where he is married with two children.

Complimentary self-parking for this event is available in the parking garage of the Frost Bank building.

Cancellation Policy – Cancellations received in writing to acgcentraltexas@acg.org by 5pm, Nov. 17th will receive a full refund. There are no refunds for cancellations received after 5pm on Nov. 17th. If you are an ACG Member unable to attend, you can transfer your registration to another person for this same event. If the person attending in your place is not an ACG Member, they will need to pay an additional fee to bring them up to the non-member rate to attend.
