As Comptroller, Susan is the state’s chief financial officer. She manages the state’s treasury operations, monitors Texas’ fiscal health, guides legislative decision makers by estimating state revenues and ensures state taxes are collected fairly and efficiently to fund vital programs and services for the people of Texas.

Combs first served as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County where she prosecuted juvenile delinquents and handled child abuse cases. Her next job in public service was four years in the Texas Legislature, where she authored the state’s landmark private property rights legislation.
Texans elected Susan in back-to-back elections in 1998 and 2002 to serve as the state’s first woman Agriculture Commissioner. She re-engineered the Texas Department of Agriculture for greater efficiency and took on more responsibility to boost economic development, ignite revitalization, promote Texas products through the GO TEXAN marketing campaign and helped Texas schoolchildren eat healthier by launching one of the nation’s strongest school nutrition policies.

Combs is a fourth generation Texan with a West Texas ranch that has been in her family for 130 years. She is a graduate of Vassar College and the University of Texas School of Law. Married for 37 years, she is the proud mother of three sons.

*NOTE: This event will be held at the AT&T Conference Center @ 1900 University Avenue.  Take the Conference Center elevators from the parking garage to M3 (Ballroom/Hicks Conf. Rm. 301). Parking will not be complimentary & no validation will be available. You may self-park or use the valet services at the University Avenue entrance. Self-parking will be available in the underground, attached garage & rates should be between $9.-$12.

Your registration for this event acts as an audio/video release and includes your permission for ACG Central Texas to use your image and comments captured on audio, video or photographic formats while attending the event for marketing and promotional purposes. Cancellation Policy – Cancellations received in writing to acgcentraltexas@acg.org by 5pm, Dec. 17th will receive a full refund. There are no refunds for cancellations received after 5pm on Dec. 17th. If you are an ACG Member unable to attend, you can transfer your registration to another person for this same event. If the person attending in your place is not an ACG Member, they will need to pay an additional fee to bring them up to the non-member rate to attend.
