2009 ACG Detroit Cup - MBA Business Case Competition

The Detroit Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), a premier organization of corporate growth driven professionals with more than 280 members, proudly announces its 2nd Annual ACG Detroit Cup, an intercollegiate competition among students at schools in Southeastern Michigan to find the brightest minds for the future of M & A. Students will gain invaluable feedback from judges, expand networks, and compete for scholarships. In 2009, a total of $19,000 in scholarships money will be awarded to the 6 winning teams, including $10,000 to the first place team and $5,000 to the 2nd place team.

Participating Schools:

              

Eligibility:

The competition is open to all graduate students who are officially registered at the participating schools during 2008 – 2009 academic year. Each team can have 3 – 5 team members. To be considered for Round 1, teams will need to submit the application form to the on-campus contact at the participating school by the designated deadline of the school (listed in the Application Form of each school). By January 9, 2009 (Fri), the schools will select 3 – 5 teams to compete in Round 1, which will be held at the campus of the each participating school in January 2009.

Schedule and Format (Please refer to “2009 ACG Detroit Cup-Overview and Competition Rules” for details):

Round One (January 2009): Round 1 will be held at each school between January 21, 2009 and January 31, 2009. ACG Detroit will distribute a case study to participating teams two (2) weeks prior to Round 1 competition.

The participating teams must submit a complete executive summary via email to ACG Detroit by three (3) days prior to Round 1 competition date. During Round 1, teams will present their analysis and recommendations to a panel of ACG judges for 30 minutes (including Q&A). After all teams present, the judges will choose a team to advance to the Final to be held on February 21, 2009 (Saturday).

Final Round (February 21, 2009): On February 7, 2009 (Sat), Detroit will distribute a new case study to 6 finalist teams selected to advance to Round 2, which will be held on February 21, 2009 (Sat) at Walsh College in Troy.

The teams will submit a complete executive summary via email to ACG Detroit by 5:00 pm on February 18, 2009 (Wed). During the Round 2 competition, 6 finalist teams will present their analysis and recommendations to a panel of ACG judges for 40 minutes (including Q&A). After all teams present, the judges will announce the winners to receive awards.
