Gearing up for the Next Stage

Two of the automotive industry's most knowledgeable
professionals will present relevant data that gives insight into the automotive
business from an OEM and supply base perspective including where the industry
is heading, what's driving the recovery and the challenges and opportunities
lie ahead. Mike Robinet, from IHS Global Insight, and Dave Andrea, from the
Original Equipment Suppliers Association, will present a wealth of information
that attendees can use to better understand industry realities. Both speakers
are steeped in a long history in the industry and regularly present on the
health of the automotive industry.

David Andrea Vice President, Industry Analysis and Economics Original Equipment Suppliers Association

Mr. Andrea has 20 years of experience analyzing the automotive industry from a variety of perspectives. Prior to joining OESA, Mr. Andrea was chief financial officer and director of the Forecasting Group at the
Center for Automotive Research (CAR), where his research focused on industry structure and product technology issues. Previous to his position at CAR, Mr. Andrea was chief economist with CSM Worldwide, a Michigan-based automotive forecasting and consulting firm. In this position, he provided international
economic briefings for clients and established the base economic forecasts for vehicle and component production forecasting models. Before this position, he served as an equity investment analyst with Roney & Co. (now Raymond James). In this position he followed automotive manufacturers and small- and mid-sized suppliers providing research to Roney’s retail brokers and institutional clients. Between 1994 and 1996, Mr. Andrea was director of forecasting with AutoPacific, Inc., providing economic and sales analysis and market and product technology trend analysis. Coming out of his graduate work at the University of Michigan, he worked for eight years with the University of Michigan’s Office for the Study of Automotive Transportation, leaving as an Assistant Research Scientist. Mr. Andrea currently serves on the SAE International board of directors and is vice chairman of the SAE Detroit Section’s Global Leadership Conference and serves on the Section’s finance committee. He serves on the Society of Automotive Analysts’ board of directors. Mr. Andrea is also a member of and active in the Economic Club of Detroit, the National Association for Business Economics, and Detroit Association for Business Economics.

Michael Robinet Managing Director IHS Automotive Consulting

Michael Robinet, Managing Director of IHS Automotive Consulting, is a leader and innovator in global production forecasting, analyzing vehicle/component sourcing and production strategies to serve OEM,
supplier, financial and government entities throughout the industry. Mr. Robinet’s field of expertise includes global vehicle product and capacity forecasting, future product program intelligence, platform consolidation and globalization trends, trade flow/sourcing strategies, and OEM footprint/logistics trends. In his previous role as Director of IHS Automotive Global Production Forecasts, Mr. Robinet helped designed the world’s first contiguous database designed to forecast sales, production, and sourcing
linkages for the global automotive industry.  Mr. Robinet has over two decades of experience in automotive
forecasting, strategic analysis and manufacturing finance. Before joining IHS, he was Vice President, Global Vehicle Forecasts at CSM Worldwide. He worked at various research companies and was schooled in finance at a major tier one supplier. He has also been widely quoted in worldwide print, radio and TV media on a variety of industry trends and topics focused on the global automotive industry, and he presents regularly at global OEM and supplier conferences and symposiums. Mr. Robinet holds an undergraduate degree in international and developmental economics and an MBA, both from the University of Windsor, Canada. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and a
member of the Automotive Press Association (APA).  Michael is a board member of the Society of
Automotive Analysts (SAA), founding director of the Canada-US Business Association (CUSBA), a member of the Detroit Economic Club (DEC) as well as a participant on  the Canadian Automotive Partnership Council.
