His areas of expertise include strategy development, leadership development and executive management. Rob has specific financial expertise in equity financing (both public and private), debt financing, accounting, acquisition structuring, negotiation and leveraged finance.
Before co-founding Javlin, Rob served as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at West Corporation. While at West, Rob led a successful business transformation fueled by more than 15 acquisitions. When Rob joined West in 2000, it had never acquired another business and operated exclusively within the outsourced teleservices market. In 2000, West had revenue of $724 million, EBITDA of $154 million and an enterprise value of $1 billion. Beginning in 2002, West began to enter new adjacent markets through acquisition. Rob led West's effort to enter the ARM industry by acquiring Attention LLC in 2002, Worldwide Asset Management in 2003 and Omnium Worldwide in 2007. In addition, West entered the conferencing market and the public safety services market during Rob's tenure. Under Rob's leadership, West completed more than 15 acquisitions in seven years totaling more than $2.0 billion in aggregate purchase consideration. These acquisitions transformed West's business model. By the end of 2008, more than 85 percent of the company's EBITDA was generated by businesses acquired during Rob's career. More importantly, West's enterprise value increased from $1 billion to over $5 billion.
From 1996 to 2000, Rob worked in Corporate Development at First Data Corporation. During his tenure there, Rob worked on numerous transactions and developed strategies to address the growth of debit card transactions and Internet-based electronic payments. Rob also led the $1.2 billion divestiture of the Investor Services Division to PNC Bank.
From 1987 to 1995, Rob worked in the accounting profession, attended law school and practiced law. From 1987 to 1991, Rob worked in the Houston office of Price Waterhouse where he focused on transaction services. After graduating from law school in 1994, Rob practiced law at Kutak Rock, where his work centered on corporate, securities and merger and acquisition transactions.
Rob is actively involved in a number of education-related charities in the Omaha community. He graduated with a BSBA in Accounting from Creighton University and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center.
