As the United States continues to recover from the financial crisis, the strains between financial institutions and regulators have never been greater.  Some have described the regulatory environment today as the most tension-filled, confrontational and skeptical of any time in the country’s history.

Economic data demonstrate that the recovery continues at a painfully slow pace, as business activity, employment and the overall economic environment continue to trend in a positive direction.  However, a strong economy can only fully recover with a vibrant financial market that can fuel the economic engine to its full potential.

The capital markets are the lifeline of the economic engine in the United States, and very few suggest that we’ve hit full stride since the financial crisis.  Many acknowledge that drastic regulatory reform was required after the crisis.  However, it is without question that greater liquidity in the markets is hampered by the opaqueness and general confusion pertaining to the regulatory environment.

SEC Commissioner Michael S. Piwowar, PhD acknowledges the need for more efficient capital markets at this point in history.  Balancing the need for increased regulatory reform and a regulatory platform that is conducive to an efficient capital market is at the top of agenda.

Join SEC Commissioner Piwowar and a distinguished panel of experts for an open and candid discussion of “The Regulatory Environment on Wall Street.”  The New York chapters of The Association of Corporate Growth (ACG) and Financial Executives International (FEI) welcome SEC Commissioner Piwowar, Paula Bosco of New Mountain Capital and Mark Sloss of UBS for this event.

This event is graciously hosted by Crowell & Moring LLP and conducted in partnership with Columbia Business School, Harvard Business School, the University of California Haas School of Business, the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.
