Video game production is now a $5-billion industry in the United States.

Nearly 1,200 people are employed by approximately 30 video game companies located near Durham and Raleigh, including Epic Games, Electronic Arts, Insomniac Games, Red Storm Entertainment, Virtual Heroes, Inc. and Destineer. The Triangle is also a base for a growing "serious games" sector which produces computer-simulated training for other industries such as aviation, healthcare and the military.

Growth in the industry is explosive and the opportunity for the industry continues to expand.
