Scholarship
Criteria & Overview

ACG Richmond
supports the community through scholarships to qualified students.  Candidates for these highly competitive scholarships are chosen through a rigorous selection process.

Qualified candidates should have an interest in pursuing a career in domestic or international business which could be in the area of accounting, corporate law, marketing, finance, investment banking, real estate, etc.

Selection criteria includes a combination of academic achievement, demonstrated leadership ability, desire to pursue a business career, work experience, community service and recommendations. Financial need may also be used as part of the selection criteria.

Scholarship awards are at the sole discretion of the ACG Richmond Scholarship Committee.

Applicant must be a legal resident of Central Virginia.

Accreditation is required of high schools and colleges.

Recommendation letters should be mailed to the ACG Richmond Chapter office.  Email is not an acceptable method of transmission for recommendation letters.

April 27, 2012 Recipients Notified
(due to the volume of applications received only those being awarded scholarships will be notified)

May 11, 2012: Awards presentation meeting.


Scholarship Recipients
ACG Richmond, Inc. announces the recipients of the 2011 scholarship awards. Selection criteria includes a combination of academic achievement, demonstrated leadership ability, desire to pursue a business career, work experience, community service and recommendations.

Recipients of a $1,500 scholarship award are:
  • Gabriella Schnorbus Badura, Clover Hill High School
  • Sean-Evan Tyler Evaro, Matoaca High School
  • Thomas Lee Rice, Trinity Episcopal School
  • Nicole Tignor, Hanover High School
  • Preston Anderson Williams, Collegiate School
Recipients of a $1,000 scholarship award are:
  • D. Patrick Brown, II, Elon University
  • Kaitlin Carlyle, Clemson University
  • Olivia DeSalvo, Virginia Tech
  • David Thomas Fisher, The College of William and Mary
  • Matthew Gizzi, University of Richmond
  • Tyler Hechler, James Madison University
  • Neil Pathak, Maggie Walker Governor's School
  • Samantha Lynn Phillips, The College of William and Mary
  • Christopher Russell, Hermitage High School
  • Jonathan South, Virginia Tech
Organizations receiving funding are:
  • J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College
  • Partnership for the Future
  • The Powell Foundation
  • The Community Foundation
  • Virginia State University
Over the past few years, ACG Richmond, Inc. has awarded over $130,000 in scholarships to organizations and students in Central Virginia pursuing business studies. Scholarship funding is made possible through the successful Virginia Capital Day Conferences hosted by ACG Richmond.
