We will be discussing cloud computing and cyber security, retail apparel, commercial real estate and portfolio diversification strategies, featuring economic expert Matthew Fienup, PhD, Executive Director of California Lutheran University’s award-winning Center for Economic Research & Forecasting (CERF).

The panel discussion will be led by Brad Levin, Managing Director & Senior Wealth Advisor of The Colony Group.

Matthew Fienup

Matthew Fienup, Economic Update

Executive Director, Center for Economic Research & Forecasting (CERF)

Matthew is an applied economist who specializes in econometrics, economic policy analysis, land use, and environmental markets. He is Associate Professor of Economics and teaches in Cal Lutheran's M.S. in Quantitative Economics program. Matthew is a member of the Wall Street Journal Economic Forecasting Survey and was the recipient of 2019, 2020, and 2021 Crystal Ball Awards for the Zillow Home Price Expectations Survey (formerly the Case-Shiller). CERF's U.S. home price forecast received multiple top-3 rankings among the 100 forecasts included in the survey. 
 
Matthew returned to school to earn his PhD after running a small business in Ventura County for more than a decade. His other specialties include California Natural History, technical rock climbing and photography.

Brad and his team deliver a vast array of relevant services including investment management, tax planning, multi-generational gifting and wealth transfers, family wealth education, family governance, philanthropic advice and business management. Brad’s services can be especially valuable to successful business owners who are planning for an eventual sale or transition of their business.

Within The Colony Group, Brad has developed a unique approach to financial planning, called Bucket List Living. It seeks to a balance prudent planning for long-term lifetime goals while enabling the ability to experience more near-term life-enriching experiences. Brad’s passion for helping others find balance is evident from the moment he meets them as he listens carefully to their needs, and designs a financial plan in which clients can find fulfillment beyond a monetary amount. In addition to working with clients one-on-one, Brad is a portfolio manager with a strong focus on technical analysis and is involved in the management of investment strategies.

Brad was the founder of Legacy Wealth Partners, a boutique wealth management firm in Calabasas, CA, prior to merging with The Colony Group in 2021. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics. He holds the designations of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Chartered Market Technician®, making him one of a small number of financial professionals to hold both these designations.

Eddie is a member of the EIF and the Novogradac coalitions for Opportunity Zones. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and has been a licensed California real estate broker since 1988.
