The panel discussion will be led by Carol Suruki, So. Cal. Food, Beverage & Agribusiness Practice Leader of Baker Tilly. There will also be an Industry Overview by David Bonrouhi, Managing Director at Calabasas Capital.

Carol has practiced public accounting since 1991. She leads the Food, Beverage, and Agribusiness Practice for the Southern California region. She has significant experience in accounting, auditing, and general business and management matters of middle-market multigenerational family-owned and private equity–managed entities. Her clients include companies with worldwide international subsidiaries.  In 2010, Carol was honored with the California Society of Certified Public Accountants Prestigious Women to Watch Experienced Leader award. Most recently, she was honored by Forbes Best-in-State CPA and one of the top 500 influential leaders in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal, and of that group, was recognized as a Top Leader.

David Bonrouhi is co-founder and Managing Director of Calabasas Capital, a boutique investment banking firm that provides M&A advisory and private equity and debt capital raising for lower mid-market companies focusing on family-owned businesses. David has over 25 years of investment banking and private equity experience. He began his investment banking career at Merrill Lynch in New York and later worked in private equity for UnionBanCal Equities focusing on investments in middle market companies. David began his career as a CPA and tax consultant with Price Waterhouse in New York.  He holds Series 7, 63 and 79 licenses with Fallbrook Capital Securities Corporation (Calabasas Capital is a dba of Fallbrook Capital), is a licensed California CPA (inactive) and a licensed California broker. David has an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, and a Masters in Tax and a B.S. in Accounting from Miami of Ohio.

Brent Herrera, Panelist

Former CFO, Camino Real Foods

Brent A. Herrera has spent more than 25 years building a career in industrial and food manufacturing, with deep experience across food equipment manufacturing, contract manufacturing, private label production, branded food manufacturing, and start-up environments.

As a third-generation manufacturing executive, Brent brings a hands-on perspective shaped by a lifetime in the industry. His early career at Casa Herrera, the family business founded by his grandfather in 1951, gave him direct exposure to manufacturing operations, process improvement, and business growth from the ground up.

Brent has held leadership roles across several food manufacturing businesses, including Bar Bakers, where the company produced products for major national brands such as KIND Bars, and Eureka Chip Company in Australia, a start-up tortilla chip manufacture. These experiences strengthened his expertise in operational finance, cost control, margin improvement, and scaling manufacturing operations.

Most recently, Brent served as Chief Financial Officer of Tina’s Burritos / Camino Real Foods, a large-scale food manufacturer producing more than 1 million burritos daily. His focus is on aligning finance with operations to improve margins, optimize labor and material costs, increase visibility, and support profitable growth.

Colin McElroy, Panelist

AGR Partners
Principal

Colin is a Principal at AGR Partners, an investment firm that focuses on providing non-controlling capital to food & agribusiness companies.  AGR is often the first institutional capital partner to family, management-led businesses where AGR helps play a role in achieving their long-term goals.  He joined AGR in 2019 and supports investment activities and partnerships across the firm's portfolio.  He was previously at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, where he structured financing solutions for clients in the bank's credit and portfolio management and food and agribusiness divisions.

Colin grew up in Georgia and holds a B.S.B.A. in Economics from Old Dominion University.  He lives in Northern California with his wife and child.

CEO & Co-founder

Trey Lockerbie is the co-founder and CEO of Future Beverage Group, a modern beverage platform focused on better-for-you functional drinks and beverage manufacturing. He oversees the company’s portfolio of brands, including Better Booch Kombucha and Live Soda, as well as FutureBev, the group’s manufacturing and co-packing division. Under his leadership, the company has expanded from a grassroots kombucha brand into a vertically integrated beverage platform serving both owned and partner brands nationwide.
