An Untapped Market for Deal Flow: The Growing Number of Women Owned Businesses

Did you know that America has more than 11.3 million women-owned businesses, with 69,000 being in Columbus Ohio? This represents the fastest growing segment of the economy, growing five times faster than the national average. According to the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), these Central Ohio businesses employ nearly 60,000 people, with sales topping 9 billion. Columbus ranks 13th (out of the 50 largest
metropolitan areas) for growth and economic clout among women-owned firms and seven new women-owned businesses begin each day in Columbus. NAWBO Columbus member profile shows that 25% generate more than 1 million in revenue and 14% over 5 million.

ACG Columbus is taking a look at what it is like to be a female business owner in Central Ohio by bringing together three leaders with a wide range of experience and expertise. Lori Kaiser, Founder & CEO of Kaiser Consulting, Merry Korn, Owner of Pearl Interactive Network and Rebekah Smith, Partner and Director of Forensic and Dispute Advisory Services at GBQ Consulting will be joining us for a discussion on what it takes to be a female leader and business owner. They will discuss risks, growth plans and strategies, how male and female mentors have contributed to their success, as well as what sets them apart from their competitors.
