Join us Tuesday, September 21st for the next monthly luncheon Business Impact on New Administration. NOTE: the monthly luncheon will be held in person at a new location. 

With a new administration comes changes in philosophy, policy and initiatives.  Due to the continuing effects of the pandemic and a change in priorities, the potential impact is significant.  Our panel of accounting, banking and private equity will discuss how the current and future business climate will be affected by these policies.

The room opens for networking at 11:30 and the program begins at noon.

Eric has more than 25 years of public accounting experience supporting public and privately held entities in widely diverse industries including private equity funds, manufacturing and distribution, software and technology, life sciences, retail and consumer goods, and healthcare. 

He has extensive experience in domestic and international taxation. He has advised mid-sized and large multinational companies in the areas of global tax planning, global tax compliance best practices, cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and transfer pricing. In addition, he has advised private equity funds and their portfolio companies.

As Office Managing Partner, Eric is responsible for establishing objectives and managing all aspects of the Minneapolis tax practice including strategic planning, budgeting, client services, sales and marketing, recruiting and staff development.

Eric has been a frequent speaker on the topic of tax reform, international tax, and transfer pricing for organizations such as the Counsel for International Tax Education, and Financial Executives International. He has also taught courses for his former firm’s national training including international tax, transfer pricing, and various other courses.

Brock is a Managing Director and has been with CIBC the last 4 years working on the National Commercial Banking team out of Minneapolis.  Brock has a portfolio of existing clients and is responsible for the day-to-day portfolio and relationship management activities of those clients in addition to business development responsibilities for the MN, ND and SD markets, and also heads up the ESOP banking efforts for those markets.  Previously Brock was with US Bank for 13 years in a variety of positions including Portfolio Manager and Relationship Manager on the Minneapolis commercial banking team.  Brock also has experience as COO of a 100% employee-owned industrial supply distribution company.

Brock holds a Bachelors degree in Financial Economics from Gustavus Adolphus College.

Robert Tunheim is Practice Co-Leader of Ballard Spahr's Private Equity Group. He represents clients in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance transactions and general business matters. He provides counsel to a variety of private equity groups in their formation, investments and liquidation transactions.

His M&A and corporate finance work includes handling control transactions, minority investments, mezzanine financing transactions and corporate restructurings. Bob also provides general legal advice to businesses, including many of his private equity clients’ portfolio companies, on a variety of issues, including contract, finance, securities, licensing, choice of entity and other matters.

Loren is Managing Partner of Oxbow Industries, LLC. Over his career, Loren has completed over $2.5 billion in corporate finance transactions. Prior to Oxbow Industries, Loren was a Principal/Shareholder & Director of Mergers and Acquisitions for CraigHallum Capital Group. Prior to Craig-Hallum, he was Managing Director of Private Equity for Lazard Middle Market (f/k/a Goldsmith Agio Helms). Loren started his investment banking career as a Vice President in Mergers & Acquisitions at RBC (f/k/a Dain Rauscher). He began his professional career as an attorney and was a Partner at Stinson Leonard Street (f/k/a Leonard, Street & Deinard), a major Minneapolis based law firm. Loren holds a B.B.A. degree in Finance from the University of Iowa and a J.D. from the University of North Dakota. Loren has served on the board of directors for several private and non-profit companies. Loren is currently Chairman of the Board of Inno-Flex Corporation, LLC, and serves on the board of Town & Country Fence, LLC, SkyWater Technology Foundry, Inc., Ascent Solutions, LLC, and Insignia Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: ISIG). He was formerly a member of the board of Pool Distribution, LLC, Q4 Holdings, LLC, SixSpeed LLC, and HydroEngineering, LLC.
