Tom Bohn to Join Association for Corporate Growth® as CEO

CHICAGO, September 30, 2019 – Association for Corporate Growth® today announced that Tom Bohn, CAE, MBA, has joined the middle-market professional association as its next CEO. Bohn joins ACG from the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC), where he steered the nonprofit organization through an unprecedented period of growth.

“Tom’s record of building dynamic teams that serve and support their constituents and managing strategic acquisitions that drive meaningful growth will resonate well with our membership and our chapter leaders,” said Martin Okner, chairman of the ACG Global Board of Directors and president and COO of dpHUE, a middle-market beauty company.

Bohn will assume the role of president and CEO of ACG Global on Dec. 1. A certified association executive (CAE), he brings more than two decades of experience transforming professional and social service organizations. He joined the NAVC in 2013 as its CEO and has since more than doubled annual revenue from $11 million to $26 million through strategic acquisitions, certification and education programs, and expansion of its media assets.

“ACG’s dealmaking network is an enviable one,” Bohn said. “By leveraging the growth strategies ACG members utilize in their own transactions and embracing that entrepreneurial spirit, I’m committed to strengthening the membership value proposition, supporting chapter operations and increasing ACG’s brand presence.”

ACG retained Korn Ferry to conduct the national search following the resignation of its former CEO Pat Morris. ACG Global Board of Directors Immediate Past Chairman Angela MacPhee, a partner at Baker Tilly, led the executive search committee.

“We started our search open to candidates from an array of backgrounds,” said MacPhee. “We were committed to finding a visionary leader and we found that in Tom. He has repeatedly proven that a respectful and rewarding culture can and will produce high-performing teams that share a common purpose and drive growth.”

Bohn is a founding member of the Board of Directors of Heart + Paw, a PE-backed integrated pet care company. He is a nationally recognized association leader, public speaker and contributor to industry and trade publications, and has appeared as a guest on Bloomberg News Radio and Fox Business Channel.  He previously served in leadership positions with the Institute of Financial Operations, Institute of Internal Auditors and the YMCA of Central Florida. Bohn has regularly been recognized as a business leader, including as a “Top Executive, Innovator and Changemaker” and one of the “CEOs of the Year” by the Orlando Business Journal.

Some of Tom’s recent career accomplishments include:

  • Acquired four external for-profit organizations to support the NAVC’s growth strategy.
  • Built an award-winning, diverse culture at the NAVC and increased the number of staff members from 21 to nearly 80.
  • Diversified the organization’s revenue by adding 12 new products and services.
  • Created three new membership categories to encompass all the components of the animal health sector.
  • Developed the animal health industry’s largest online learning/media/social platform for continuing education and discussion.
