John Launchbury, PhD (Founder): Dr. Launchbury is an internationally recognized expert in formal methods in computer science, and was one of the creators of Haskell, an increasingly trendy and popular programming language. John founded Galois with direct support and partnership with the U.S. Intelligence Services to advance the applicability of formal methods to address national needs in encryption and software verification. From 2014 to 2017, he served as the director of the Information Innovation Office at DARPA, directing a $500M budget to tackle long term DoD challenges in cyber security and artificial intelligence. In late 2017, Dr. Launchbury rejoined Galois as its Chief Science Officer.
