Tom Gayner

We are honored to announce Tom Gayner, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Markel Corporation, as the 2022 Virginia Capital Conference Keynote Speaker. 

Tom is Co-Chief Executive Officer of Markel Corporation, a diverse financial holding company including insurance, reinsurance, and investment operations around the world. Markel, a Fortune 500 company, has 61 offices in 16 countries and is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.

Tom joined Markel in 1990 and oversees all investing activities, and is also responsible for Markel Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary that acquires controlling interests in manufacturing, technology, and service companies.

Tom serves as Chairman of the Board of the Davis Series Mutual Funds; is on the boards of the Graham Holdings, Cable One, and Markel; and is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee of the Virginia Retirement System.
