In 2017, INEOS (a global chemical company) Chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a car enthusiast, experienced adventurer, and Britain's wealthiest businessman, identified a gap in the market for a stripped-back, utilitarian, hard-working 4x4 engineered for modern day compliance and reliability.

INEOS Automotive Limited was formed and Jim immediately tapped Greg Clark to lead the launch and establishment of the new Brand and new vehicle in the Americas - the most important region for the company.

The headquarters? Right here in Raleigh. And they have big plans for the area. "You're going to see Grenadiers everywhere," Clark predicts, pointing to the boxy vehicle it has developed as its own ultra capable alternative to a Land Rover or Mercedes G-Wagen.

The stakes are high for the Grenadier, a five-seat SUV initially launching with conventional composition powertrains from BMW. The Grenadier starts at a price point of $71,500 in the U.S. and will be built in France. The company launched the Grenadier over Thanksgiving 2023 and plans to launch an electric 4x4 in 2027 that will be built in Austria.
