You’ve built a successful business, but you’ve begun thinking about an eventual exit. You could sell or pass the business to a family member, but that could create uncertainty. Forming an ESOP is a good way to protect the jobs of employees as well as your legacy.  At ACG’s 2019-20 kick-off lunch, you will learn how to navigate some of the challenges posed by this complicated transaction and understand the math and the magic behind a successful ESOP exit.

Kevin Ward

Huntington Bank
Senior Vice President

Kevin Ward is a Senior Vice President, in Middle Market Commercial Banking for Huntington Bank.  His primary responsibility is to provide ESOP Finance advice to Huntington bankers, their clients, prospects and referral sources.  He has over 35 years of commercial and investment banking experience.  Kevin started his banking career in New York City with a variety of money center banks, including the Bank of New York, Manufacturers Hanover Trust, and Citibank.  Previously, he led LudlowWard Capital Partners, a regional investment bank that he co-founded in 2005.   Most recently he led the middle market banking effort in Western Ohio for JP Morgan Chase.

Kevin is a former trustee of Cincinnati Country Day School and board member of Boys Hope Girls Hope Cincinnati.  He currently serves as a trustee of the Cincinnati Country Day School Foundation and the Cincinnati Museum Center.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tulane University in 1978.

Ted received his BS in Economics from Northwestern University and his MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago.  He is a member of the ESOP Association, National Center for Employee Ownership, and Ohio Employee Ownership Center and is a Certified Exit Planning Advisor. Ted is a board member for ACG Columbus and Columbus Council on World Affairs and is active with Nationwide Children’s Hospital Development Board and the Exit Planning Institute.

Leslie Lauer

Managing Director

Leslie joined UBS in 2006 and has 35 years of experience in the financial services industry, with positions in banking, benefits, consulting and private equity. She  has held leadership positions in national organizations, including nine years on the Board of Governors of The ESOP Association and  
past Chairman of the Finance Committee. She also served for six years on the board of the National Center for Employee Ownership, where she was Chairman for two years. In 2014, Leslie was elected Treasurer of the Ohio Captive Insurance Association. She is also a Vistage CEO group member, on the Advisory Board of the Columbus Foundation, a member of The Association for Corporate Growth and a member of Women for Economic and Leadership Development.


Leslie’s personal interests include traveling (46 countries and counting) golf, swimming and venture capital investing. She is also an active supporter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Leslie and her husband, Bruce, live in Columbus, OH and Los Angeles, CA.
