Background of the Florida ACG Capital Connection Conference
The Florida ACG Capital Connection is an annual event of the four Florida chapters of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) focused on bringing growth to middle market businesses. The Conference attracts representatives from:
- Private equity firms
- Investment banks
- Commercial banks
- Middle market companies seeking growth capital
- Accounting firms
- Law firms
- Marketing/Promotional firms
- Insurance brokers
- Other Transaction Professionals
Each year about 600 attendees gather with about 65% being from outside of Florida to meet and build relationships leading to transactions which foster corporate growth in a broad variety of industries including technology, healthcare, hospitality, real estate, retail, aviation and manufacturing.
The Conference features events designed to promote networking, including speakers, educational breakout sessions and golf and tennis.
Our 2019 keynote speaker is Lawrence Levy, former CFO and director of Pixar Animation Studios, who led the company in its initial public offering and sale to Disney. Mr. Levy will provide insight on the process by which he led two initial public offerings for prominent tech companies (he also guided Electronic Imaging in its IPO). In order to succeed while leading Pixar, he had to learn to work collaboratively with Steve Jobs, one of the most notoriously difficult but successful innovators of our time. After leaving Pixar, Mr. Levy studied Indo-Tibetan meditation practices founding a non-profit called Jupiter Foundation. In his recent, Harvard Business Review article, “Finding the Healthy Tension Between Being Confident and Collaborative,” he explored blending business and meditation. In his presentation he will discuss such topics as creativity, collaboration and finding a healthy work-life balance.
