Our expert panel will discuss the many faces of fraud. By the end of this session, you will understand what leads to fraud, how common it is for organizations to be impacted by fraud and how they can protect themselves.

The room opens for networking at 11:30 and the program begins at noon.

Audit Partner

Bekah Martin is an Audit Partner specializing in the not-for-profit/higher education at Baker Tilly. For 17 years, she has served local and national not-for-profit and higher education institutions as a value architect, ensuring clients meet the financial statement and single audit compliance requirements. In addition, Bekah works with organizations to implement new accounting standards, benchmark against best practices, evaluate internal controls and execute strategic plans. As a member of the AICPA NFP Expert Panel and Baker Tilly’s Professional Practice Group, Bekah is on the forefront of opportunities and challenges in the profession and the industry. In these roles, she is responsible for creating trainings, authoring tools and templates and providing technical guidance to both team members and clients.

Christopher Steffl is one of the founders of Cyberfin, a cybersecurity company that helps protect financial professionals and their clients from electronic theft. He is also a founder of a wholesale insurance company, Versatile Insurance Services. Both companies are focused on the security and success of financial professionals. Chris' experience and tenure provide financial professionals with a unique understanding of how to increase sales, understand compliance and protect their client's information through cybersecurity.  Chris lives in Edina, Minnesota, with his wife, Tanya, and two children, Ashton and Piper. When Chris and Tanya aren't running around to different sports and activities (mainly hockey), they enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Cory Svihla

Intellex Forensics
Director and Co-Founder

Cory Svihla is a director and co-founder of Intellex Forensics. Prior to the formation of Intellex, Svihla was the director of business development for a CPA firm based out of Washington D.C. Svihla helped build Intellex from the ground-up, generating business and loyal clientele across the country and around the world. He leads various projects, manages client relations, and develops strategies to combat fraud and financial misconduct. He has served on the board of various professional organizations, serves on the board of various non-profits, and has held many other leadership roles and positions. Svihla graduated from Bethel University as a student athlete and spent time playing professional football post-college. In his free time, he enjoys CrossFit and spending time outside with his daughters Story and Everly, and wife Kristi.
