Brent Solomon, MSF, CPA/ABV, CM&AA
Brent is an independent valuation, transaction, and CFO advisor and an adjunct professor for the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. Brent specializes in providing valuation, technical accounting, and transaction advisory services for mergers and acquisitions and capital market transactions.
 
Brent provides strategic CFO advisory services and project-based valuation and transaction advisory services for venture capital/private equity fund sponsors, public REITs, and operating businesses involved in technology/government contracting, media/entertainment, real estate and other industries. Brent teaches business and valuation analysis using financing statements, created and teaches courses on valuation measurement, disclosure and auditing for financial reporting (Fair Value) for the Master’s programs, and teaches closely-held business valuation for transaction purposes in the Executive Education program.
 
Brent retired from CohnReznick in 2016 after 17 years as the National Director for Valuation Advisory Services providing valuation and financial advisory for mergers and acquisitions, equity based compensation, financial reporting, estate and income tax purposes, litigation support, and strategic planning for clients in government contracting, real estate, mortgage banking, technology, manufacturing, distribution, energy and many other industries. Prior to CohnReznick, Brent was a CFO/Corporate Controller for closely-held businesses and a public company and an Audit and Tax Partner with traditional CPA firms.
 
He is also a frequent lecturer at national conferences on topics including business succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, ESOPs, fair value financial reporting, and valuation for specific industries including private equity, real estate, and renewable energy. Brent has served as an expert witness, providing expert testimony in court proceedings and depositions.
