2026 ACG Nebraska May Breakfast Meeting | Eugene Kowel, Special Agent in Charge - FBI

Lead field operations, strategy, and personnel for all FBI national security, cyber and criminal investigations and personnel across a region encompassing six million residents and 600 state and local law enforcement agencies. Oversee threat mitigation, tactical resources, risk management, governance, compliance, incident response, interagency collaboration and community engagement in Omaha and eight subordinate offices spanning Nebraska and Iowa. Provide leadership and stakeholder engagement during crisis situations, to include active shooter events and hostage situations. 

Spearheaded the FBI’s extensive public relations, media, congressional engagement, and community outreach strategy across the region. Conducted over 40 media interviews and press conferences, served as the keynote speaker and provided remarks to over 100 community, government, and private sector groups, and authored numerous newspaper editorials to generate and enhance awareness of the FBI’s mission, impact, and value of partnerships in the region. 

Directed ten task forces across the region comprised of state, local, and federal law enforcement partners, to include the Joint Terrorism Task Force, Violent Crime Against Children Task Force, Safe Streets Gang Task Force, Transnational Organized Crime Task Force, Cyber Task Force, and Safe Trails Task Force.
