What made you want to join the board at ACG Toronto?
I think ACG Toronto is a great value to anyone who is involved in the M&A trade industry. I’ve learned a tremendous amount through the offerings that ACG Toronto has and the panels put on for Capital Connection and Deal Source. It provides a great opportunity to network with people in the industry and in the organization. I’ve made a number of friends and professional acquaintances who I value a lot. I feel that being a member of the board enables me to help give back to ACG and continue my networking with a broader perspective than I ever have before.
How did you get into the industry?
Several years ago, at The Poirier Group, we made the conscious effort to get engaged with Private Equity, which was the foundation of TPG in the beginning. We then left it for larger, more public companies and privately-owned companies for a number of years. More recently, we felt that it was a great opportunity and great timing to reintroduce ourselves to the industry and we have continued to develop partnerships in the industry ever since. Since then, we have grown our practice in PE to 62% of our business.
Why did you join ACG Toronto?
I joined it change to “ACG Toronto” to learn more about the M&A industry in Canada and in Toronto in particular and to connect with its participants. It has been a great resource for networking as well as learning about what is happening in our environment in Toronto and Canada in the M&A practices.
