Stivers’ continuity of service to the middle market recognized at association’s fly-in

June 19, 2019: CHICAGO —The Association for Corporate Growth® (ACG), the global organization focused on driving middle-market growth, will award the ACG Growth Award to Republican Congressman Steve Stivers of Ohio today. Established in 2014, ACG’s Growth Award is the association’s greatest recognition to persons whose service has benefited middle-market businesses. Growth Awards are bestowed upon elected officials, scholars, authors and other persons who have made significant contributions to the middle market.

“As a founding member of the Congressional Caucus for Middle Market Growth, Congressman Stivers is a steadfast voice for the middle market,” said Martin Okner, vice chairman of the ACG Global Board of Directors and president and COO of dpHUE. “His continuity on the caucus is evidence of his commitment to ensuring policymakers value and understand the importance of the middle market to U.S. economic growth.”

Stivers has co-chaired the Middle Market Caucus since it was created in 2014. He has been a consistent voice of the middle market in Congress, especially as a member of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets. From assessing the impact of SEC rules on middle-market companies to questioning the level of investment in Middle America, Stivers ensures the middle market has a voice on Capitol Hill.

“Middle-market companies employ millions of people on the Main Streets in every town across the country,” Stivers said. “It’s an honor to work with organizations like ACG to help those businesses thrive and to help drive growth in the middle market.” The middle market includes companies that have $10 million to $1 billion in annual revenue. The segment accounts for one-third of private sector GDP and employment and comprises 200,000 midmarket companies in the U.S.

“Congressman Stivers possesses a deep knowledge and understanding of the breadth of the middle market, and he appreciates the contributions of the more than 44 million men and women it employs,” Okner said. “If the market segment were a country, its GDP would rank it as the fifth-largest economy in the world.”

Past recipients of the ACG Growth Award include Congressmen Jim Himes, D-Conn.; Sean Patrick Maloney, D-N.Y.; Mike Quigley, D-Ill.; and David Schweikert, R-Ariz., along with former Congressmen Robert Hurt, R-Va.; and Lamar Smith, R-Texas.

Okner will present the Growth Award at the Capitol Hill Club today following ACG’s annual Fly-In. Nearly 50 ACG members from across the country will converge in Washington, D.C., today to participate in more than 50 meetings with members of Congress and their staff to discuss the importance of the middle market and the significant benefits of private capital to growing midsize companies. ACG is the only organization solely dedicated to advancing growth in the middle market.
