James Griefzu

Partner

James serves as Partner in Wiggin and Dana’s Stamford office where he represents corporate and individual clients in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, commercial agreements, and other complex corporate transactions and related corporate governance matters. He advises clients across multiple industries, including manufacturing, retail, pharmaceutical, biotech, medical cannabis, and several services sectors.

James has experience representing acquirers, issuers, and financial advisors in private and public offerings of equity securities in connection with merger and acquisition transactions.

Before joining the firm, James was an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP’s Financial Institutions Group in New York, where he counseled private equity groups, banks, specialty finance firms, insurance companies, and other private and publicly-held regulated financial institutions on mergers, acquisitions, recapitalizations, dispositions of assets and securities, and corporate governance.

He received his J.D. cum laude from Temple University Beasley School of Law and his B.A. cum laude from Colgate University.

Rich Izzi

Richard Izzi is a partner in the New York Advisory Group, where he leads transaction services for the tri-state (NY/NJ/CT) area. He specializes in transaction advisory services to buy- and sell-side clients including private equity funds, strategic investors and lenders.

Mr. Izzi’s experience includes quality of earnings analysis, profitability analysis, financial projections, cash flow modeling, and purchase agreement consultation. He is also experienced in dispute resolution and litigation matters.

Prior to joining Marcum in early 2019, Mr. Izzi was a lead in the transaction advisory services practice of a national accounting firm. Previously, he was a founding partner of a private equity firm specializing in control investments (distressed and non-distressed) in the middle-market, with a focus on industrial products, aerospace manufacturing, construction, business services, and the apparel industry. Mr. Izzi has also served as a member of the finance team at a large multinational corporation and with the transaction advisory services groups at a “Big Four” accounting firm.

ABOUT ANDREW

Andrew Finkle is a partner and tax leader in the Transaction Advisory Services Division of the Firm’s Philadelphia office. He is also a Mid-Atlantic regional leader in Marcum’s Private Equity Practice group. He has more than 30 years of experience advising middle market businesses with transactional, day-to-day advisory, compliance and accounting-related tax matters. He is also a tax attorney skilled in tax controversy matters.

Mr. Finkle leads a team of transaction tax advisory professionals providing counsel to U.S. and multinational strategic buyers and sellers, private equity groups, and other financial buyers on the tax implications of complex business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, spin-offs, bankruptcies, work-outs and dispositions.

Focusing on both buy-side and sell-side deals, Mr. Finkle drives key services to his clients including transactional tax planning, tax structuring, tax modeling and tax due diligence. He also has extensive experience in the areas of bankruptcy tax, corporate tax planning and tax representation before the IRS and state taxing authorities. His clientele span many industries including manufacturing and distribution, high technology, biotechnology and life sciences, publishing and electronic media companies, and transportation and logistics companies.

Prior to joining Marcum, Mr. Finkle was the national tax leader of the private equity practice of a top ten ranked national CPA firm. He also has many years of leadership experience at large global accounting firms and practicing law.
