When Going Viral: The Rise and Fall of the Hoverboard

Max Ringelheim was the cofounder of 2015's Hoverboard fad through his super popular viral brand PhunkeeDuck. PhunkeeDuck and the Hoverboard product skyrocketed into a massive global phenomenon, however only 14 months later it completely crashed and burned. This experience has put Max in a unique position to share his fascinating story but also educate the business community on the topic of virality.

Join us for this high-energy, engaging, and educational training workshop "When Going Viral," where Max covers the rise and fall of PhunkeeDuck and how to both control and make the most of virality. Max will cover multiple topics including entrepreneurship, leadership, business operations, social media, influencer marketing, and more. Everyone in attendance is guaranteed to have an amazing time while also learning incredibly important business and life lessons that come with a business going viral.

Zoom access details will be sent separately in final reminder email prior to the event.

Hoverboard
Co-founder

After graduating from University at Buffalo in May 2011, I co-founded a video conferencing company called Vonvo (short for "video convo"). I was the CEO of Vonvo for 3.5 years. Vonvo was a marketing and fundraising tool for companies almost like a hybrid of Google Hangouts meets Kickstarter.

Starting in January 2015 I began my consulting career with a multitude of different tech startups. During this time I was most notably responsible for co-founding PhunkeeDuck. PhunkeeDuck was the most popular brand spearheading 2015's global "Hoverboard" movement. Some key highlights from working on PhunkeeDuck were:

1. Generating over $1 million in sales in eight weeks and over $5 million in sales in 10 months.
2. Gaining over 110,000 followers on social media in less than eight weeks.
3. Establishing partnerships with A-list celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Justin Bieber, and Jamie Foxx.
4. Earned media coverage and product placement on TV shows like CNBC, Modern Family, and The Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon

In late 2016 I began my full-time corporate career working for a high growth venture backed company called littleBits Electronics. I worked in a multitude of different sales roles at littleBits. As a result I gained a vast amount of knowledge in speciality retail sales, big box sales, education sales, distributor sales, reseller sales, and channel sales. In early 2019 I began working full time on the marketing team at the #1 ranked coding bootcamp Flatiron School which is owned by WeWork. I was leading product marketing efforts for key strategic initiatives Flatiron School was investing in across university and enterprise business lines.

In 2020 I've returned to consulting, as I help international companies bring their products to the US and specifically focus my efforts in sales and marketing. I've also started my career in public speaking as I conduct and facilitate my learning and development education workshops called "When Going Viral."
