Are you protected? Cybercrime in M&A is on the rise.

Our next networking lunch event is all about cybercrime and will be held on March 27th 2018. It is kindly hosted by Virtual Vaults.

Cybercrime can cause massive reputational damage and the resulting personal data breaches can lead to serious fines for the company involved. The M&A market is a highly attractive target for cybercriminals due to the confidential information involved and the opportunity to make a fortune with the inside information about upcoming deals.

Hackers mainly target top executives, legal counsel, investment bankers and corporate finance advisors. With knowledge of the investment world, the inner workings of companies and perfect english - their spearphishing emails seem convincing and legitimate and scarily fool far more than they should.

On 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation will come into force in all member states of the EU, replacing the current directive. There will be stricter control on where personal data is stored, better governance for auditing and reporting who has access to this kind of information and improved data policies that companies need to comply to. Gartner predicts that by the end of 2018, 50% of all EU companies will not be compliant.

In this month's networking presentation, Jeroen Kruithof, CEO Virtual Vaults will share the steps you need to take in order to be compliant with the new rules and be less vulnerable to cybercrime.
