Accuracy event

This energetic event was kicked off with an introduction form Bianca van Zijderveld from Accuracy into recent trends in the energy sector, the speed of transition and a look at investment trends. The last few years have seen an increase in demand for electricity but at the same time the market has also become more complicated. Key challenges include:

- Global financial, market and political uncertainties

- Varying levels of support for energy transition ie. not all governments are on the same page

- Technology - speed of research, amount of investment and level of collaboration

- Levels of investment in infrastructure - costs & risks

This was followed by a lively and interactive discussion featuring our 3 panelists -

  • Robert Blom - Investment Director at Eneco Ventures, investor in scale-ups that accelerate the energy transition
  • Lex Hartman – Investor, Former board member TenneT, former CEO Shell Ubricity
  • Marcel van der Schaaff – Founding partner at Carteman Ventures, investor in deeptech companies focused on energy conversion and storage

The discussion involved practical examples and stories of the current state of play with discussions on hydro-energy, green investment strategies in Norway & Denmark, the psychology of the system of energy usage, transfer pricing challenges as well as the challenges of changing weather patterns.

Key feedback from Lex Hartman - bet on the race not on the horse!
