KPMG analysis of the M&A in 2016

The number of mergers and acquisitions in the Dutch market increased significantly last year compared with 2015. Last year, there were 647 transactions, an increase of 11.9% compared to 2015. Then the number of transactions was 578. 

Nearly 70% of transactions in the Netherlands involved a strategic acquisition between two companies. Of the other 30% of transactions, at least one financial investor was involved. This is evidenced by KPMG's half-yearly research into the movements in the international merger and acquisition market.
