May 21, 2019, CHICAGO – Association for Corporate Growth®(ACG), a global organization focused on driving middle-market growth, recently awarded its special Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual InterGrowth® meeting.

Richard P. Jaffe, Partner, Duane Morris, LLP received the organization’s highest award, which recognizes ACG members who have distinguished themselves in their service to ACG, as well as their professional lives through community service.

“Richard’s wisdom and commitment to advancing issues important to the middle market is both present in ACG’s governance structure and on Capitol Hill,” said Angela MacPhee, chair, ACG Global Board of Directors, and partner, Baker Tilly. “Whether trumpeting his favorite charity or making a meaningful contribution to his synagogue, Richard is a generous volunteer who finds a way to both inspire and complement others.  I’m proud to lead the board that Richard once chaired.”

Jaffe practices law in corporate finance and is a self-described “impact player.” Prior to joining Duane Morris in 2010 as head of the firm’s Private Equity practice, he was a partner with two other major Philadelphia-based firms and headed his own firm in the 1990’s. The trajectory of his practice has seen him helming highly visible middle market transactions for both PE and strategic players across the country; he has represented both business owners in their exits as well as buyers and sellers in the GP space.

He presently serves as the co-chair of ACG’s Public Policy Committee. He served on the ACG Global Board of Directors for seven years, and as its chair from 2015-2016. Since 2002, he has consistently volunteered on an array of committees at the Global and Chapter board levels. Jaffe was instrumental in creating ACG’s Private Equity Regulatory Task Force (PERT); its inception driven by corporate compliance regulations administered due to the landmark Dodd-Frank legislation.

“We work in a unique space within the economy, bookended by small businesses aspiring to grow and billion-dollar corporations whose growth is supported through acquisition of middle market companies,” Jaffe said. “The middle market’s unique attributes require our voice, and I’m proud to have helped advance ACG’s advocacy efforts. I’m honored to be recognized for my past contributions and continuing work, both on behalf of ACG as well as private equity firms and other PE participants.”

Jaffe joined ACG’s Philadelphia chapter in 1995 and was instrumental in its rebirth. The chapter today has one of the highest membership retention rates of the ACG’s 59 chapters, and was recently awarded Chapter of the Year by the ACG Board of Directors.

“How many times have you heard someone say, if I only had 10 of him or her?” said Stephanie McAlaine, Executive Director of ACG Philadelphia. “Richard is that person. Associations thrive because of consensus-building and innovative volunteer leaders like Richard. It’s been my privilege to work with him, and to continue to work with him on local and national ACG initiatives.”

Duane Morris Chairman Matthew A. Taylor said of Jaffe, “No matter whether he’s working for a firm client, a civic or philanthropic organization, or a pro bono client, Richard always starts with the long-view. He assesses the situation and determines how his contribution will impact the end game. He’s an asset to our firm and our corporate practice, and we are proud of his commitment to supporting a broad range of our clients companies operating in the middle market.”

MacPhee presented the Lifetime Achievement Award May 7, 2019, during ACG’s annual InterGrowth meeting held at the Waldorf Astoria & Hilton Bonnet Creek in Orlando, Florida.
