ACG South Florida Private Equity Update

John Majer provides advisory services to private equity firms and their portfolio companies including due diligence investigations, pre and post transaction planning, tax consulting, and tax compliance. He has extensive tax experience with publicly held and privately held corporations in the healthcare, business and professional service, and consumer product industries. Before joining RSM, John spent fourteen years of his professional career with a Big Four accounting firm.

Areas of emphasis include Consolidated Tax Returns, Multi-state Tax Issues, FASB ASC 740 (formerly FAS 109), Accounting for Income Taxes, FASB ASC 740-10 (formerly FIN 48), Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes, Tax Credits, Accounting Methods.

John received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Pennsylvania State University, and his Master of Business Administration in Accounting, LaSalle University. 

Matt is a Principal for Boca Raton, FL-based New Water Capital – where he leads investment teams in all facets of the deal sourcing, execution, and portfolio management processes. Prior to joining NWC in 2017, Matt worked at Mangrove Equity Partners on the investment team. Matt also has prior experience at BB&T Capital Markets, where he focused on underwriting syndicated debt opportunities in the industrial and energy verticals. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Florida.

Zachariah "Reggie" P. Zachariah, Jr. is a shareholder in the firm's Corporate Practice in Fort Lauderdale and focuses his practice on private equity transactions; mergers and acquisitions; corporate restructurings and counseling boards and senior management on strategic business, corporate formation and governance, financial and transactional matters. Reggie’s specific industry experience includes health care technology and services, education, insurance, manufacturing, franchises, retail, and infrastructure. Prior to law school he was a financial analyst, focusing on mergers & acquisitions for a public company.

Gretchen Perkins is a Partner at Avance Investment Management, LLC, and is responsible for sourcing investment opportunities both for the firm and for portfolio companies. Ms. Perkins brings over 20 years of sourcing and business development experience, having created and implemented successful business development organizations and programs at her two prior firms: Huron Capital and Long Point Capital, in addition to many prior years in a variety of financial services and consulting roles.

She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. Gretchen has been an active member of the Association for Corporate Growth for over twenty years, having held multiple board and leadership positions in the ACG at the chapter and national levels. Gretchen will Chair the ACG Intergrowth national conference in 2022. Ms. Perkins is also involved in multiple non-profit endeavors, including the following organizations: Endeavor Detroit, Detroit Police Athletic League, United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan, and 100 Businesses Who Care. Ms. Perkins resides in Florida and has two grown children.

Mr. Norman is a Vice President at Blue Sea Capital. Miller assists with identifying, evaluating and executing investment opportunities as well as providing ongoing support to the firm’s portfolio companies. Currently, Miller serves on the Board of Directors of Beacon Oral Specialists and Specialty Smile Partners.

Prior to joining Blue Sea Capital, Miller was an Associate at Odyssey Investment Partners, a middle market private equity firm based in New York City. Miller began his career as an Investment Banking Analyst in Barclays’ Industrials Group.

In his spare time, Miller enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, fishing and Alabama football.

Jon is a Managing Director based in H.I.G.'s Miami office. He is focused on execution of post-closing profit improvement strategies. Jon has led investments in a number of industries including food, healthcare, retail / consumer products, transportation, oil and gas services, and manufacturing.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Jon was with Bain & Company, a leading management and strategy consulting firm. While at Bain, Jon advised a number of Fortune 100 and Private Equity clients across a range of industries. Prior to Bain, Jon worked at Hewlett-Packard and the Mitchell Madison Group.

Jon earned an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and an undergraduate degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
