ESOPs 101: Why Owners Sell to an ESOP and What to Know about Acquiring an ESOP-owned Company

Employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) have long been a vehicle for succession planning and can offer selling shareholders a compelling alternative to a strategic or private equity sale. Just like traditional ownership structures, a company that sells to an ESOP does not have to remain in that structure in perpetuity, and can undergo subsequent transactions. Hear from ButcherJoseph & Co. Managing Director Alberto del Pilar on the reasons owners pursue a sale to an ESOP, and how to navigate the acquisition of an ESOP-owned company.

Join us for the next ACG St. Louis Corporate Peer Group meeting on Tuesday, November 9th. This will be a hybrid event. You can register for the in-person or virtual option. Program details coming soon.

The ACG St. Louis Corporate Peer Group is an exclusive, invitation-only group comprised of senior-level corporate executives and corporate development professionals. The objective of the group is to provide a network where members can exchange ideas, challenges, and best practices amongst peers.
