Why did you join ACG WI NextGen?
As someone that spent most my life outside of Wisconsin, I wanted to join a networking group that would immerse myself in the market. ACG NextGen has given the ability to network and meet with rising young professionals throughout the city.
How has NextGen helped you in your career?
NextGen has been an incredible resource for networking, education, and professional growth. Whether that be through informative discussion topics, on site tour visits, or networking happy hours, there is always an experience to further my personal growth.
What lessons have you learned during the pandemic that you think you will carry over in the long term?
How to leverage technology especially video calls. Zoom and Microsoft Teams are here to stay and the ways we utilize the system can be very beneficial. CIBC’s only office in Wisconsin is in Milwaukee, video conferencing has allowed our team to take initial meetings with prospects from every corner of the state. Through video calls it enables the ability to put faces to names, create more scheduling flexibility and provide a more personal touch than over the phone. Also, like many companies, CIBC has been working off a hybrid office model but with the help of Teams we have been able to communicate regularly with colleagues and conduct business without skipping a beat.
What do you think are the biggest challenges your industry will face in the next 5 years, and what actions is your business taking to position it for success in the future?
I personally think the biggest challenge the banking industry is facing is cybercrime. As banks continue to innovate and go more digital the threat of cyber-criminals also increases. CIBC has partnered with Microsoft to accelerate the bank’s transformation into the cloud. This partnership includes enhanced security and training for all CIBC employees. On the client side, we continually educate on the rising threat of cybercrime and offer additional products that provide added security.
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy travelling and experiencing new places.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Play the Piano. Never enjoyed piano lessons as a kid but wish I knew now.
