JJ Gottsch

J.J. Gottsch

PBR Austin Gamblers
CEO

After a successful 24-year career with Nolan Ryan’s sports and entertainment company (Ryan Sanders Sports & Entertainment) J.J. Gottsch was named the first CEO and General Manager of the PBR Austin Gamblers in March of 2022.  Tasked with overseeing both business and team operations, he’s led the organization to on the dirt and off the dirt success in the team’s first three seasons.

Starting with the inaugural PBR Team Series Draft in 2022, Gottsch has overseen all team selections, including the overall first-round draft pick Jose Vitor Leme, who would go on to win the MVP award in the league’s first two seasons. The Gamblers have achieved team success as well, winning the Regular Season Championship in back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023, and winning the PBR Teams World Championship in 2024.

On the business side, J.J. guided the Gamblers and PBR into the Moody Center in 2022 as the first sports tenant to perform in the building.  Gottsch has brought innovation to the Gamblers and the PBR Team Series. The team was the first to bring on an analytics division and the first to have operations internationally in Brazil. The team has created several merchandise collaborations as well, being the first professional bull riding team to partner with New Era Caps, the first to partner with Hooey Hats, and also creating several other lines of branded merchandise including custom belts with Austin based Zilker Belts. The Gamblers also lead the PBR Teams league in most revenue categories.

Prior to his role with the Gamblers, Gottsch played a key role in the development of both the Round Rock Express and Corpus Christi Hooks. He was ultimately promoted to COO of Ryan Sanders Sports & Entertainment, where he oversaw all business operations for the Express, RS3 Turf, RS3 Strategic Hospitality as well as the company’s entertainment division.

Gottsch serves on the Board of Directors for several organizations including Foster Angels of Central Texas, the Austin Chamber of Commerce, and the Austin Sports Commission, where he serves as Past-Chairman of the Board. J.J., his wife Evonne and daughter Emma Jo reside in Central Austin, just a few blocks away from here.
