MARKET UPDATE & PANEL: Nadim Malik, CFA

Nadim Malik is CEO of SPS by Bain & Co., an information services firm that helps private equity firms, lenders, and M&A advisors and service providers optimize their business development effectiveness. Nadim has become a frequent speaker at industry conferences and contributor to leading publications focused on M&A, private equity and lending. Mr. Malik founded SPS in 2009 after six years in the business development group of American Capital, where he successfully created and managed distinctive market research tools, analytics, reporting and processes that drove the firm’s deal origination, investor development, and strategic growth. Prior to American Capital, Mr. Malik’s background is in financial research and includes The Deal, where he was an Analyst focused on M&A research, and Thomson Reuters, where he helped launch a financial information product on public companies. Mr. Malik graduated with a BA in Philosophy from Colgate University and is a CFA charter holder.

Ben is the leader of the Mergers & Acquisitions group at Sullivan. His practice focuses on corporate and securities law, representing public and private companies in complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, real estate investment trust (REIT) conversions, SEC reporting and other general corporate and securities matters. Ben counsels clients through all stages of the corporate life cycle – from initial formation and financing through successful initial public offering or acquisition. He also plays an active role in the firm’s blockchain initiative, and advises companies with respect to blockchain and related technologies, virtual currencies and digital token sales, and related securities laws and regulatory matters, including (i) structuring and documenting the offering of Ethereum-based smart contract digital securities for a real estate fund, and (ii) structuring and documenting the offering of a principal-protected digital security in the hospitality industry. In addition, Ben is a leader of the firm’s Opportunity Zones practice group, and he advises a range of clients in forming private investment funds, partnerships, joint ventures and other investment structures to take advantage of the U.S. Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017's Opportunity Zone Program.

Alan Fullerton has been an investment banker to large corporations, middle-market firms and family-owned firms for 25 years. He is a senior advisor to management teams and business owners, with significant experience in arranging equity financings ($5 million to $100 million) and executing buy-side and sell-side M&A mandates. An advocate for his clients, Alan has led business owners and boards of directors through over fifty sellside transactions, as well as multiple buyside, equity and debt transactions, totaling over $2 billion in value. Alan has been a sector finalist for several national M&A Advisor Awards for his transactions in industrial services, healthcare, consumer products, business services, travel services, and highly engineered industrial products, including for deals closed with Fortune 500 and Global 500 corporations, private equity-backed companies, closely-held businesses, and middle-market publicly traded companies. He is a member of the board of directors of ACG Boston. Prior to joining Mirus as a Partner in 2010, he was Managing Director in the investment banking group of Newbury Piret, a regional firm, where he led and managed dozens of M&A and financing transactions in a variety of industries. He is a member of the Mirus fairness opinion committee, a position he also held at his previous firm. Before his investment banking career, he was a member of technical staff and project leader with the 2500-person engineering consulting firm TASC, later the advisory services business of Northrop Grumman. Alan holds a BS from M.I.T. in Mechanical Engineering, an MS from Brown University in Electrical Engineering, and an MBA from the Ecole des Ponts of Paris France. He holds Series 7, 24, 63 and 79 licenses from FINRA. Alan lives in Lexington, Massachusetts and Chocorua, New Hampshire with his wife, son and two daughters. In his spare time, Alan enjoys reading, traveling and playing games with his kids.

Kerry has over 20 years of private equity experience. She joined Windjammer in 2016 and is primarily responsible for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, identifying potential acquisition targets for Windjammer's existing portfolio companies, maintaining existing deal intermediary relationships, and identifying and establishing new relationships.
