ACG Boston’s annual M&A Outlook Forum will kick off with a forward-looking discussion on the macroeconomic trends shaping the dealmaking environment in 2026. The program will conclude with an interactive conversation among dealmaking peers, sharing perspectives on the evolving M&A landscape and opportunities on the horizon.

Chief Investment Strategist

Yung-Yu is the chief investment strategist for the PNC Asset Management Group. In this role, his primary responsibility is to develop and implement investment strategies while overseeing all investment strategy-related activities for PNC Private Bank®, PNC Private Bank Hawthorn® and PNC Institutional Asset Management®. Yung-Yu leads the team that establishes overall strategic and tactical asset allocation guidance for client portfolios, manages the evolution of the investment processes, provides thought leadership on key investment issues and authors numerous publications. He also performs research and analytics that aid in developing market forecasts, identifying investment opportunities and driving the overall investment recommendations of the firm while also managing the firm’s asset allocation models.

 

From 2016 to the spring of 2025, Yung-Yu held positions of chief investment strategist and chief investment officer for BMO Wealth Management ($60+ billion in assets under management). 

From 2009 to 2016, he was as assistant professor of finance at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and taught courses on equities, fixed income and derivatives while also conducting academic research. Prior to his role as professor, Yung-Yu worked for a global consulting firm and later for a Fortune 500 industrial firm where he served in analytical and managerial capacities, primarily based in Asia.

Yung-Yu graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science from Williams College and with a Doctorate in finance from the University of Utah.

Morgan is a Managing Director in the Consumer & Retail group at G2. He brings extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and strategic advisory for middle-market companies, particularly in the food and beverage, health and wellness and consumer lifestyle sectors. 
 
Morgan’s client-centric approach is a cornerstone of his leadership at G2. Morgan comes to G2 from Canaccord Genuity, where he served as Managing Director in the U.S. Investment Banking division. Prior to Canaccord, Morgan held senior roles at Raymond James and SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, where he built a strong reputation for executing complex transactions. 
 
Morgan graduated from Harvard University. Morgan holds series 7, 63, and 24 licenses. 
Residing in Wayland with his wife and three daughters, Morgan enjoys running, walking his dogs, and watching his daughters’ college athletics.

Derek Mohamed is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.

As the group's co-founder, Derek and his colleagues joined the firm in 2023 from First Republic Wealth Management. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years as a Managing Director and Wealth Management Advisor at Merrill Lynch, UBS and Morgan Stanley.

Throughout his career, Derek has worked tirelessly to advance the ambitions and priorities of an ultra-highnet-worth clientele, streamlining the complexities and unwinding the intricacies of addressing their wealth and wishes. To deliver an elite level of knowledge, know-how and responsive service, he has modeled the practice after family offices and how they serve the world's wealthiest families.

An only child, Derek lost his father suddenly to a heart attack when he was only 19. Living away at college at the time, he moved back home to help his mother and subsequently learned that his parents had not had the benefit of professional financial advice, which had a dramatic impact on the family in the years to come. To this day, his personal experience drives his passion to help the families the practice serves.

A lifetime learner, Derek holds the Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) designation, the Chartered Retired Planning CounselorSM (CRPC®) designation and the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®) designation.

Derek makes his home in Needham, Massachusetts with his wife, Nicole, their daughter and two sons. Passionate about health and fitness, Derek was a CrossFit competitor for many years and won a world championship with Team CrossFit New England at the CrossFit Games in 2011. Before that, he served as captain of his college ice hockey team. Today, he enjoys staying active and spends time playing golf, hiking, and coaching his youngest son's hockey team.

During his 30-year career, Joe Volman has become known as a go-to lawyer in the middle-market community, particularly with respect to mid-market mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”). Through his creative, results-driven approach, Joe partners with his clients as a strategic adviser, and leverages his vast network to help clients source deals and raise capital in order to effectively drive growth and maximize returns on their investments.

He is particularly skilled in negotiating in a constructive and collaborative fashion, made evident by an illustrious career grown through referrals of past clients and industry-leading companies seeking his proficiency with buy- and sell-side transactions. On the sell-side, Joe helps clients prepare for the sale process, including tax and other structuring. He assists strategic and financial acquirors with tax, structuring, and negotiating transaction documents.

Joe is a deal maker and is known to take a highly commercial approach to move transactions over the finish line. He constantly strives to be the lawyer clients call to solve their problems, operating as if he is in the office next door and available to help when needed. His sell-side clients know that he treats their business as if it were his family business—he cares very deeply about them, their family, and their business. They know he has their back and that he’s going to help them achieve their wealth and liquidity goals. On the buy-side, private equity (“PE”) firms trust him to help them make the best choices, acquire the right companies, to achieve success for their limited partners. As a firm leader, he is also able to command the best resources for their transactions.

In addition to his M&A work, Joe represents entrepreneurs and investors, startups and emerging companies, and PE / venture capital funds through all phases of the fundraising and investment process. Joe also has significant experience representing small and mid-cap public companies and investment banking firms that work in the small and mid-cap markets. He helps early-stage companies with formation and financing, and guides venture funds with the structure and negotiation of venture capital financings. For small and mid-cap public companies, he helps them comply with securities laws, attain public and private financings, and execute M&A transactions.

Joe has a deep understanding of several dynamic sectors, including technology (particularly software as a service (“SaaS”) and FinTech companies), business services, professional services, consumer businesses, life sciences, manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, sports, food & beverage, and hospitality.
