We Need Another Chair at the Table! The Impact of Family Offices on M&A

Join us for an evening of networking and discussion about the impact that Family Offices are having in the current M&A market and how their roles will continue to increase in the future.

You’ll hear from Family Offices and the experts that are investing on behalf and learn about how they evaluate their investment opportunities as well as how their viewpoint may differ from traditional financial sponsors. Following the discussion we will host a networking reception with appetizers and drinks.

John Dvor is an investment professional and operating executive with a focus on life-saving innovation. Mr. Dvor serves as Managing Director at Miraki Innovation; the Miraki Method is a unique and efficient approach to medtech investing that has led to the successful exits of breakthrough technologies, including Auris Health, acquired in 2019 by Johnson & Johnson for $5.75B. Mr. Dvor has 20+ years of executive leadership experience at global family offices, corporations, and NGOs; he has executed 100+ VC, PE and LP transactions. Past executive roles include 3BL Holdings (SFO), Helge Capital (SFO), ReMed Life Sciences (OTC:ADRNF), Tufts Health Plan / Tufts Health Ventures (NGO), iRobot Corporation (NASDAQ:IRBT), Aga Khan Foundation (NGO), and Millhouse Capital (SFO). Mr. Dvor earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Harvard University, and served in the USMC at the White House 1998-2003, and was awarded Presidential Service Badge #17996.

Andrew Eberhart is the Managing Partner of Jumpfund, an alternative investment firm providing uncorrelated niche investments to high-net worth investors and institutions. Previously, Andrew served as the Chief Investment Officer for the Heinz Family Office (2012-2018)) where he directed the investment of the family’s personal assets and charitable entities. Prior to joining Heinz, Andrew worked for several Wall Street firms including Lazard Wealth Management; The Marshall Fund; Citigroup Private Bank; US Trust Company; and Cambridge Associates. He has extensive experience investing globally across traditional and alternative investments, including Iraq, where the Marshall Fund focused its investment efforts. Andrew began his career as a U.S Navy carrier pilot and retired with the rank of Captain. Andrew holds an MBA from the Wharton School and an undergraduate degree from Cornell University.

Mr. Surrette began his career in public accounting in 1999 and joined KLR (Kahn, Litwin, Renza & Co., Ltd.) in 2001. John graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting in 1999 and obtained his Masters in Business Administration in 2003, earning both degrees from the University of Rhode Island. Mr. Surrette Chairs the firm’s Private Equity and Venture Capital Services Group and is Co-Chair of the firm’s Renewable Energy Services Group. He has a wide range of audit and consulting experience with clients in a variety of industries including private equity and venture capital, renewable energy, technology and technology-enabled service companies, auto dealerships, manufacturing, distribution, forensic accounting and employee benefit plans. He works closely with private equity and venture capital firms in meeting both back office and portfolio company needs. He is experienced in assisting clients in evaluating investment opportunities as well as hands on experience during the pre and post transaction process. He has also spent a significant amount of time assisting clients in complying with the provisions of Sarbanes Oxley and assisting in the evaluation of internal controls, fraud examination and forensic accounting engagements. Mr. Surrette is on the Board of Directors of the RENEW Energy Initiative and Chairs their training committee. In the past, he has worked as an adjunct professor at both Providence College and Johnson and Wales University. He has served on the finance committee and is a past vice president of the board of trustees for the Leukemia Society. Mr. Surrette is also the past co-chair of TryRI, which is a volunteer initiative to bring business into Rhode Island. He is also a 2010 graduate of Leadership Rhode Island. Mr. Surrette is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Public Accountants, the Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Turnaround Management Association, the Business Associates Club, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and ACG.
