LOUISVILLE - Veteran Kentucky bank executive John Thurman is the new president of ACG Kentucky, the local chapter for the global association that serves professionals involved in middle-market mergers, acquisitions and corporate growth.

A member of the executive committee and director on the chapter board, Thurman succeeds FORVIS Assurance Director Matt Berrian in the top role.

“I’m honored to be in this leadership position and am eager to work with our board, our membership and the business community to energize middle market corporate growth in our region,” Thurman said.

John’s career has included roles in banking, insurance, public accounting and family business.  Following his first position with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, he held financial and business development posts with Aegon Insurance, and in 2003 began a series of commercial banking leadership positions. Today, as Truist Market President for Kentucky, he is responsible for growing and managing commercial clients across the state. 

A graduate of Bellarmine University, Thurman earned his MBA from the University of Louisville.

Also joining the ACG Kentucky board of directors is Graham Sparks, an Associate on the Business Development team at MiddleGround Capital, a private equity firm that invests in North American and European B2B industrial manufacturing and specialty distribution businesses across the lower-middle market. Graham previously worked at J.P. Morgan’s Private Bank in Nashville. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in finance and administration.
