Top Ten “Dos” (Not Don’ts) In Readying for an Initial Public Offering of a Private Company

Featuring Zach Noling, CFO, Capovision

General Description: Zach will conduct an interactive, Q&A focused dialogue centered on ten top “Do This!” items that relate to the arduous but rewarding process of transforming a private company to be ready for life as a public company.  These items will touch upon governance, strategy, operational accounting & finance, technical accounting, equity and equity plans, insurance, financial reporting, and other themes.  Each item will involve a real world “vignette” or hard-won experience and invite comment/questions, meant to be truly interactive with peers.  These themes and items also bear strong relevance to readiness for transactions in other domains (such as for M&A).

Learning Objectives: Illustration of best practices in multiple functional areas of a business or topical domains that relate to successful readiness for and execution of an initial public offering.

Learning Outcomes: Identification of topical, practical best practice tips and suggestions from hard won experience that others can use if they are going through, likely to go through, or interested in the complex but rewarding process of readying a private enterprise for the public markets.

Zach Noling, in his latest growth spurt consistent with his personal ethos of reinvent, evolve, and repeat (always in beta mode), is the CFO of K2X Capital, a California Bay Area-based “ETF of startups”.  He recently joined the C-Suite at K2X where he is a prior LP investor and startup/due diligence advisor.  K2X Capital is a seed and early stage venture capital fund invested in about 100 high-innovation, high-growth startups in life sciences and technology across the US and other nations.  Investment management is an exciting new IPO readiness space for Zach, who previously spearheaded IPO readiness for a high-growth medical devices company which listed on the NASDAQ in July 2025.  Zach has five dimensions of experience as a C-Suite executive (CFO+; investment management and life sciences), entrepreneur/owner/operator (co-founder of three active businesses – hi-tech life sciences focused additive manufacturing (3D printing), craft spirits distillery, and commercial real estate), director/Board member, startup investor, and equity partner (having an early career foundation with PwC, where he made partner overseas in Asia).  Zach has lived and worked in the Philadelphia area, New Jersey, California Bay Area, and spent approximately 1/6th of his life living and working on capital markets transactions and major Chinese IPOs on U.S. markets while stationed in Shanghai, PRC.  Outside of working too much, Zach is a drummer and bassist, loves rock and roll, and hones his risk management practices through engaging in air sports (skydiving and paragliding).  Zach and his wife reside in Princeton, NJ.
