Cybersecurity has never been more crucial as new cyber threats, ransomware, and phishing scams become more prevalent and sophisticated. Join ACG WI and a panel of experts as they discuss a panelist’s real-world ransomware case study, developing preventative measures to safeguard IT systems, and key components of a response plan. The panel will also discuss the latest trends, along with the legal and ethical duties related to reporting a breach.

Mike Altschaefl is an experienced executive who has held various leadership roles across several companies.  Prior to his current role as the CEO and board chair of Orion Energy Systems, Mike was the president of E-S Plastic Products, a middle-market plastics company.  During his tenure, the Company had a ransomware incident, and Mike will be sharing his experience and learning points as a real-world case study.

Chetan Bhatia is a Vice President within Stroz Friedberg’s Cyber Resilience practice where he helps clients proactively manage cyber risk. Chetan has over 20 years of experience in information technology, information security and information risk management and has a track record of delivering results in highly regulated industries such as investment banking, insurance/reinsurance and HR outsourcing and consulting. 

Prior to joining Stroz Friedberg, Chetan served as Chief Technology Officer of Data Partner. In this role, he was responsible for the technical vision, strategy and roadmap for the organization. He was also a cyber-security consultant for Advance Resources and Consultants, a firm made up of former senior-level government and military officers, where he conducted cyber security risk assessments for organizations awarded federal government contracts. He also worked for Nexum, where he served in a variety of roles such as business development director and practice manager and was responsible for the project management and network/security engineering teams. Before joining Nexum, he worked at Hewitt Associates and Aon, where he deployed and administered security controls and was part of a team that maintained the network security infrastructure protecting the PII of over 75% of the Fortune 500 organizations. 

Chetan received his bachelor’s degree from DeVry University and Master of Business Administration and Master of Project Management degrees from Keller Graduate School of Management. Chetan also serves as adjunct professor at Washington University in St. Louis, Marquette University in Milwaukee and Loyola University in Chicago. He has successfully mentored students to complete in the National Cyber League and the National Collegiate Cyber Defense competitions. Chetan is often invited by the FBI and US Secret Service to provide executive debriefings on cyber and other investigative matters.  

Chetan is also a member-at-large on the cybersecurity education advisory board for Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

Penny L. Foust, CTP, currently leads North Shore Bank’s Commercial Treasury Solutions Team.  She has been in the banking industry for over 20 years, holding strong leadership positions dedicated to serving commercial clients with treasury management products & services.  

Penny spent a significant amount of her career working in big bank environment serving the large corporate arena.  Penny has extensive experience in specialized industries including gas and oil, health care, manufacturing, insurance and commercial real estate.  

She recently found her niche working with super community banks building out commercial treasury management platforms.  Her success relies on staying close to the customer to ensure solutions are designed and delivered tailored to meet the needs of commercial clients.  

Penny is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) with the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) and has been an active participant in the Wisconsin chapter since 1995. This requires her to stay current on the ever-changing rules & regulations in the financial industry.  

Penny specializes in building treasury management structures that usually involve lockbox, integrated cash applications, card solutions and fraud protection. Her clients currently range in sale size from $1 - $300 million and have a single bank relationship.  She speaks at numerous events across the state focusing on business fraud and best practices to mitigate loss.

Martin J. McLaughlin, CIPP-US, is a corporate shareholder and the chair of Reinhart’s Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice. In Marty's corporate practice, he advises companies on general corporate matters with a particular emphasis in the areas of corporate finance, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and business strategy. As one of the initial founders of Reinhart's Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice, Marty recognized early on the need to develop a multi-disciplinary team to address the data privacy and cybersecurity needs of the firm's clients. In the data privacy space, he regularly counsels C-suites on information security compliance and risk management, advises clients on cross-border data transfer - including complying with the GDPR, prepares information security policies and incident response plans and supervises client responses to malware attacks and other data privacy related incidents.
