Why did you join ACG?
I was introduced to ACG through VRC, which has a longstanding history of supporting the organization, so it was an easy decision to join.
How has ACG WI helped you in your career?
ACG has helped me in my career in two main areas. The first area is that I now have a great network of top-notch M&A professionals who I am able to lean on for advice and to introduce my clients to when they need assistance in various areas. The second is that I have learned so much by attending the monthly meetings on topics that I most likely would not have sought out myself.
What has your ACG membership meant to you?
Pride. I am proud to be part of such a great group of people that challenge me to be a better professional. Being part of the Board for the past two years has given me a great appreciation for how much work goes into making this organization so successful.
What lessons have you learned during the pandemic that you think you will carry over in the long term?
I always knew that relationships were important, but the fact that you could not see anyone in person for a long period of time made me appreciate just how important those relationships were. I also learned how to adapt quickly, including changing the GLC format from in person to virtual.
What do you think are the biggest challenges your industry will face in the next 5 years, and what actions is your business taking to position it for success in the future?
I don’t think it is specific to VRC and the valuation industry, but I think that AI will be a challenge to much of the financial services industry. We are routinely looking at our processes and trying to automate as much as we can.
What do you do for fun?
I love hanging out with my family and coaching my three kids in all different sports. I also enjoy golfing and reading.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
To read minds.
What is the best book you have read this past year?
Infinite Game by Simon Sinek.
