Spotlight on UTSA

“Town and gown” relations—between universities and the cities where they’re located—are often neutral at best,
but UT San Antonio is working to change that perspective by partnering with governmental agencies and the business community to create jobs, fuel economic growth, and support long-term strategic planning in Downtown San Antonio.
And Dr. Bernard Arulanandam (“Dr. Arul”),Interim Vice President of UTSA’s Institute for Economic Development, is at the helm of many of these initiatives. One of the biggest, in fact, is one that Dr. Arul fostered: UTSA’s National Security Collaboration Center is an ecosystem comprised of government, industry and academia to tackle
the nation’s greatest cybersecurity threats.
Dr. Arul also serves are the Interim Vice President for Research and Knowledge Enterprise at the University.  As part of his research, he has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and the Department of Homeland Security, along with an extensive list of research publications and issued patents.  He is a member of the Board of Directors for BioMed SA, represents UTSA at the UT Systems Office of Federal Relations National Security Advisory Group, and received the Fulbright International Education Administrator Award in 2016.
Join us at the Plaza Club to learn more from Dr. Arul about the National Security Collaboration Center, UTSA’s strategic plan, and his role in UTSA’s efforts to drive San Antonio’s economic growth.
