ACG's monthly member luncheons are the one meeting per month where you can efficiently network with Cincinnati's transaction ecosystem.  Attendance typically includes 100+ accountants, attorneys, bankers, consultants, investment bankers and various sources of capital from family offices to mezz debt to PE.  Topics are focused exclusively on some aspect of deal-making, often from business owners and corporate management who have completed successful deals driving corporate growth.

Carter joined RCC in 1999 and leads the Firm’s medtech investing practice. He has been instrumental in setting the firm’s healthcare strategy and establishing the credibility within the medical device vertical.

Previously, Carter worked in marketing and business development for Home Technology Healthcare, a comprehensive home healthcare company offering nursing, DME, infusion therapy and hospice services. Home Technology Healthcare was private equity financed by Continental Illinois and acquired by Integrated Health Services in 1997. As the 1998 recipient of the Bradford Fellowship for achievements in corporate finance, Carter worked in equity research at J.C. Bradford & Co. while attending business school at Vanderbilt.

Carter has achieved numerous highly profitable exits in healthcare services and medical technology, including Suros Surgical Systems, Bolder Surgical, Accelecare, SurgiQuest, OrthoHelix, Invivodata, PerfectServe, TissueTech, Standard Bariatrics and Orthoscan. He currently serves on the boards of Q’Apel, Nico, OrthAlign, Spineology, Theragen and Catalyst Orthoscience. Carter is also an independent board member of UC Health, the largest academic medical center in Southwest Ohio.

Carter holds a BA in Classical Studies from Trinity College (Hartford, CT) where he was awarded the James Goodwin Prize, the oldest academic honor at the college, and received his MBA from Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Thompson specializes in bariatric surgery, bariatric endoscopy, and advanced laparoscopy. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
 
Dr. Thompson has a special interest in medical device development, founding Standard Bariatrics in 2014, where he currently serves as Chief Medical Officer and Director. Dr. Thompson is the co-inventor of the Standard Bariatrics Standard Clamp and the Standard Bariatrics Titan SGS stapler. Both rely on the special technique for sleeve gastrectomy that Dr. Thompson developed at UC Health’s West Chester Hospital. Standard Bariatrics has been awarded the Cincinnati Business Courier’s Innovation and Technology Award in the Outstanding Bioscience category 2018, 2019 and 2020. His primary practice site is West Chester Hospital.

ohn Rice, Ph.D., is a partner at CincyTech, having joined the firm in 2014. John leads CincyTech's Life Science investment activities from startup creation through serving on multiple portfolio company boards.

John began his career as a scientist after earning his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in microbiology and virology at The Ohio State University before a mid-career shift to venture capital. He has spent 32 years in venture capital investing in the medical sciences originally with Senmed Medical Ventures before co-founding his own firm Triathlon Medical Ventures and then joining CincyTech.

He has led or co-led more than 50 venture investments including founding five companies and joining the founding round of numerous others. He has served on the boards of all of the State of Ohio’s biomedical commercialization enterprises and chaired several of them. His experience spans biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics.
