ACG Detroit Economic Update

Jacob Manoukian is the U.S. Head of Cross-Asset Strategy for J.P. Morgan Private Bank & Wealth Management. In this role, Jacob, in partnership with asset class specialists and portfolio managers, is responsible for developing and communicating the firm’s economic and market views and investment strategies.   Jacob is a member of the firm’s Capital Markets Investment Group and Global Markets Council, and is the lead author of the Top Market Takeaways, a weekly investment newsletter sent to J.P. Morgan’s global client base.   Jacob has spent his entire career at J.P. Morgan. Prior to his current role, Jacob was a member of the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Investment Strategy Team, where he supported Michael Cembalest, the firm’s Chairman of Market and Investment Strategy. A native of Nevada, Jacob is a graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, with a minor in Middle Eastern History. In his free time, he enjoys skiing and fly fishing. 

Terrah Opferman is the Region Manager for the Chase Michigan Middle Market Commercial Banking team.  Terrah is responsible for leading the firm’s Middle Market business statewide, leading a team covering middle market companies throughout Michigan. Her team interacts with companies in a wide range of industries offering expertise that spans across commercial banking, equipment, working capital and acquisition financing along with cash management and treasury services.   Prior to her role in Middle Market Banking, Terrah was an Industry Executive for J.P. Morgan’s National Special Industries Healthcare team. Terrah led a team focused on healthcare services companies throughout the Midwest and the West providing financial and operational consultation for the optimization of revenue cycle, financing of working capital, fixed assets and other forms of required capital.   Prior to becoming an Industry Executive, she worked with large not-for-profit health systems headquartered in the Midwest. Terrah received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Albion College and a Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University.  She also serves as a board member for Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit. Terrah maintains Series 79, 63 and 24 securities licenses.  Terrah and her family reside in Beverly Hills, MI. 

Dr. Robert Tanner is the Head of Investments & Advice for J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Birmingham, Michigan. In this capacity, he provides comprehensive investment advice and strategy to high-net-worth individuals in order for them to attain their goals.

Rob was born and raised in London, England, before moving to Chicago, where he worked at Silva Capital Management LLC, a boutique investment management firm. He was the architect behind Silva Capital’s risk modeling and quantitative analyses. Rob was also active in the day-to-day management of Silva Capital's currency portfolio. Prior to joining Silva Capital, he developed cross-asset analyses for return optimization and risk mitigation purposes at Merrill Lynch, and earlier, built and maintained passive currency overlay models at J.P. Morgan. Rob is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO).

Rob has a Bachelor of Science and a Ph.D. from the University of Nottingham.

Rob currently resides in Oakland, Michigan, with his wife and three children. In his spare time, he is an avid soccer fan and enjoys playing in indoor/outdoor leagues.
