By number of issues, 5,363 ECM offerings were brought to market during the first nine months of 2021, a 25 percent increase compared to a year ago and an all-time record.

Meanwhile, overall global debt capital markets activity totaled US$7.8 trillion, down 7 percent compared to the first nine months of 2020 and the second consecutive nine-month period to surpass US$7.0 trillion in issuance. The number of new offerings brought to market during the first nine months of 2021 totaled 21,568, a two percent decline compared to the first nine months of 2020.
