Adam Abramowitz, Co-Head of Healthcare & Life Sciences, Intrepid Investment Bankers

Adam has more than 22 years of investment banking experience in the middle market. He joined Intrepid as Vice President and Founding Principal in 2010, after nearly a decade of focusing on middle-market mergers and acquisitions at Barrington Associates and Wells Fargo Securities. Adam has executed transactions involving private and public companies in a wide variety of industries, including consumer products, business services, healthcare, and industrial manufacturing. In addition to executing transactions, he’s actively involved in the management, growth, and development of the firm.

While Adam began his investment career working across a broad range of industries, today he leads Intrepid’s Healthcare Group, which has grown to be one of the most active in the Western U.S.  Adam advises companies in the physician practice management, life sciences, behavioral healthcare and outsourced healthcare services spaces working with dynamic entrepreneurs. Recently, the Los Angeles Business Journal named Adam the “Healthcare Trusted Advisor of the Year” and a “Leader of Influence in Investment Banking.”

Some of his notable recent transactions include the sale of Connetics USA, a leading international nurse recruitment business, to AMN Healthcare NYSE:AMN); the sale of Apostrophe, a leading teledermatology platform, on its sale to Hims & Hers Health, Inc. (NYSE: HIMS), a leading multi-specialty telehealth platform, which became a public company via a SPAC in early 2021; and the sale of Mosaic Laboratories, a specialized bioanalytical lab serving pharma companies in their clinical trials research, to CellCarta, a portfolio company of Arsenal Capital. In addition, Adam helped lead the groundbreaking sale of Ambry Genetics to Konica Minolta in a deal valued at $1 billion. Adam is highly regarded among his clients and peers for the tenacity with which he approaches deals and his proactivity to bring creative solutions to challenging deals.

Adam previously served on the Board of Directors for ACG Los Angeles Chapter. In particular, he has a passion for helping young professionals build their careers. In 2012, Adam created and spearheaded the launch of the ACG Rising Stars Program. This has been one of ACG’s most successful programs that has been oversubscribed with participants.

In June 2021, Adam was awarded the JVS SoCal Generation Impact Award and in 2019 he was selected as Vice Chair of the Emerging Leaders Program for JVS SoCal as he also serves on its Board of Directors. Adam has a passion for helping those who need assistance to find and develop critical skills to gain meaningful employment.

Adam is a passionate Washington professional football fan who remains loyal, despite the team’s challenges on the field. On his daily run each morning, he enjoys listening to various sports and entertainment podcasts.

Charlie Gifford, Senior Partner, New Heritage Capital

Charlie co-founded New Heritage Capital in 2006, and has been investing private equity in founder-owned, lower middle market businesses for 25 years. Charlie leads the firm’s origination practice, focusing his efforts on generating new investment opportunities and developing and maintaining intermediary relationships.

Jason Richardson, Managing Director, Regional Head at Private Credit at PGIM

Jason Richardson is a Managing Director, overseeing PGIM Private Capital’s Dallas, Mexico City*, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Sydney** Global Corporate Finance offices. Prior to this role, Jason oversaw the private placement and mezzanine activity in PGIM Private Capital’s U.S. Southwestern territory (including Hawaii). Jason is also a Partner of PGIM Capital Partners, the middle-market mezzanine debt and equity fund management business sponsored by PGIM Private Capital. He joined PGIM in 2001.

Anant Patel, Partner, GHJ Advisors (Moderator)

Anant Patel, CPA, CM&AA, is the Advisory Services Practice Leader at GHJ. Anant has over 30 years of accounting and advisory services experience, with much of his career spent in a leadership capacity. Under his purview are the practices that make up GHJ’s advisory services offerings, including client accounting and advisory services, data and analytics, forensic services, profit participation services and transaction advisory services.

In his client-facing role, Anant delivers financial due diligence services for mergers and acquisitions, assisting on buy- and sell-side deals ranging from $20 million to $1.2 billion. Anant advises privately held companies in all aspects of exit planning, preparedness and execution.

In addition, Anant works closely with private equity firms, venture capitals and institutional investors across industries, with a specialization in food and beverage, entertainment, media and technology, manufacturing, wholesale/distribution, consumer products and real estate.

Beyond his role at GHJ, Anant is the Global Capabilities Leader within HLB International, a global advisory and accounting network. He serves on the Board of Directors of Step Up on Second and was previously its Board Chairman. He is also a member of CalCPA and the AICPA. Due to his impact in the community and accounting industry, Anant has been recognized as a Los Angeles Business Journal Leader of Influence: Minority CPA and Private Equity, as well as an LA Times Banking and Finance Visionary. 

Prior to joining GHJ in 2000, Anant worked at a national accounting firm in England associated with HLB. He also previously owned and operated a number of family-owned retail grocery businesses.

Anant graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from the University of Leeds, England. He is also a CPA and Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA).

Anant and his family reside in Valencia, located in Santa Clarita. He is an avid sports fan, especially soccer and golf, and enjoys a wide variety of music.
