With the passage of the largest tax overhaul in the United States since the 1980s, businesses and individuals across the country want to know how it will affect them. Join us on February 14 and hear from a panel of experts on the opportunities and implications that the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act brings to private equity. We will discuss the key provisions and strategies that you need to know in order to implement the changes and maximize the value of the positive developments, as well as address the concerns and questions you may have. Tim is senior tax manager with the firm’s National Tax Office, specializing in M&A tax. He has more than 10 years of experience and primarily assists clients with tax planning, tax structuring, tax modeling, tax due diligence, tax attribute analysis, and other M&A tax related services. Tim has worked on over 200 transactions with enterprise values ranging from less than $5 million to over $5 billion. Prior to joining Plante Moran’s National Tax Office in 2015, Tim spent five years with a “big 4” M&A tax practice working primarily with publicly traded companies and large private equity firms.

Tim has a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University, as well as a Master of Accounting and Bachelors of Arts in Economics, Political Science, and Classical Civilization from the University of Michigan.

Experience

Prior to joining Huron, John was an analyst in the investment banking group at J.P. Morgan’s Diversified Industries group. In this role, John assisted with financial analysis, deal execution and creation of marketing materials for both buy side and sell side advisory engagements.

Education

B.A. in Finance with 2nd major in Economics from Michigan State University.

Jeremy is a senior tax manager and leader of Plante Moran’s Tax Transaction Advisory Services group. He has more than 9 years of public accounting experience, specializing in federal and state tax compliance and tax due diligence. He also has considerable experience with state and local taxes and transaction structuring. Many of Jeremy’s clients are portfolio companies of private equity groups that are active in mergers and acquisitions.

Jeremy has a Master of Accountancy from Western Michigan University as well as a Master of Taxation from Walsh College and Grand Valley State University.
