Barbara Adachi is a proven business leader in professional services with a focus on human capital and corporate strategy. She has worked with large, complex organizations to address the future of work, including the impact of technology on workforce planning & design, career development, and culture, particularly in light of the evolving working landscape. Prior to retirement in 2013, Barbara was the chief executive and National Managing Partner for Deloitte Consulting’s Human Capital Consulting Practice, a $1B practice with over 3,000 practitioners in the U.S., India and Mexico. In this role, she was responsible for all aspects of operations overseeing P&L, business strategy, sales and talent management. Prior to Deloitte, Barbara built and scaled high-growth consulting practices in 3 other organizations from the ground up. Barbara currently serves on corporate and non-profit boards, including VSP Global (Vision Service Plan), the largest vision care insurance company in the U.S., where she chairs the Compensation Committee and is a member of the audit, finance and governance committees. Barbara has served on 10 boards including Deloitte Consulting, TalentGuard and Girl Scouts of the USA bringing expertise in organizational transformation, business and human capital strategy and executive compensation. Passionate about women’s leadership and diversity, Barbara served as Deloitte’s national Women’s Initiative leader and was named one of San Francisco Business Times Most Influential Women in Business from 2003-2012, culminating as “Forever Influential” since 2013.
